Fyi, I took the question challenge a few minutes ago and had the correct answer after reading the white paper and it still shows as having gotten the answer incorrect. Not sure when the correction you mention will be updated. Thanks Brian

I don't know if our Cisco engineer has had a chance to get this back to development yet. He was on-site late yesterday. Just a note on the same subject I see regularly in the forums where folks are posting about SW showing a device as unknown and the suggestions I see vary as to how to determine what it is. By far the…

I had already opened a case. This is actually a big problem from what I was finding just googling about the subject. Many other folks are having the same problem with their NMS system regardless of which vendor or open source product they are using. I want to post my findings after much time spent on it. First off the…

I know this is an old thread but I have a TAC case open and this year old thread seems to have the same or similar problem. In our case NPM discovers the newest model of 2960s 48 port switch as a 24 port switch. According to the Cisco website I can search in the entity mib for our model and find it. Solarwinds does not.…

I'm following up from an earlier post in this thread from me in regards to this problem not being unique to UDT. I haven't had time to open a formal ticket and more than willing during the next two following weeks to work with you on this problem during the school district shutdown period. We have this same problem and…

I can also say that this is caused by other SW products but I can say which. We are getting pounded by this problem and we have never installed UDT as a trial product on any boxes at all anywhere in the district. Would really like to see SW evaluate the problem beyond the workarounds list in the link above. It doesn't…

I would look at what Sachsj has suggested most definitely. We use the method he/she mentions for a lot of things. In our case we get a text and email messages for most alerts and the subject needs to be short as well as the text body needs to be short. For these particular alerts we use what I showed above and below. As…

When you say the apps are working fine across the vpn I'm assuming running apps installed on the server you want to poll. Depending on how your customer has their snmp on the server configured it may be set to only allow certain ip addresses or ip ranges to query it. The customer would need to let you know. You can also…

We have about 800 switches in stack combinations of 2960s's, 3750's, 3750x's. in the 3750x series we have some stacks with a full 9 switches so I understand where your coming from one members rebooting. In NPM we add the stack and stack ports to be monitored. We have used it for so long and so accustom to it we know from…

Not sure if the ASA you have is so new as to not be seen correctly but we have an ASA5510 on NPM 10.2.1 and it pulls info correctly. Displays that it is a 5510 model In our case we had to Under edit properties window change the template to ASA to get the correct info.
