Sorry it appears I was STUPID and didn't have a fully updated MIB database. Do you know if the eng toolset mib walker and the orion poller use the same MIB.cfg file from all users\solarwinds? I was missing the mib in orion and when the walker didnt find them I thought they just were not there. I should have tested with 3rd…

Well we dont have orion yet. We were planning on starting with 2000 elements and scaling up from there. Our first quote was for Orion NPM, APM250, and Netflow. But we like the IPAM just based off of the IP manager in the toolset(which we have totally over used). For IPAM we are looking at about 3500 IP addesses. So from a…

I just put you in my will....

Works perfectly, thanks. -b

9 times out of 10 we do not know the switch involved. Am I to understand that this is something that isnt possible? -b

Top Secret Plan: 1: Get SNMP access 2: Determine CPU usage 3: ..... 4: Win!

Mike pretty much hit it, you definitely get security by chopping functionality. Did you UNIX guys give you more than "its a security risk"? I've known a lot of engineers that throw that around and never offer up much more. And to add to mharvery's you could limit your snmp view(cisco term) to non sensitive information(if…

So did the due diligence, and indeed this is what happened. That persist command just made it into my permanent base config. Can't roll back at this point so its time for a large cup of tea, some loud music and a ton of busy work. thanks for the help. -b

Seems like you would have to introduce some hostname variables into your devices first, which may differ depending on your versions. Cisco IOS Shell Configuration Guide, Cisco IOS Release 15.1M - Cisco IOS Shell [Support] - Cisco

wow i totally posted that in the wrong thread.... HAHA. more black tea now.... Message was edited by: Eric Yes test will test fire that alert for that node, if you are in a case where you have the node down and you expect it to be down dont forget you can put things in unmanaged mode for maintenance work. This way no…

Yep, thats about what I expected. And I have started something similar, even used same IP, then set the node as external. We already have an 'enviroment' field for Prod, Cert, Dev, now with a 4th field for Inventory. I then use SQL to change the MachineType and Location(also Inventory). Thanks for the feedback, something…

thanks, lol @ the url b-

oh hey, that worked great. Do you ever go looking for a solution to a problem and you mind expects it to be complex and it causes you to not see the simple? Thanks for the solution.

, are you by chance 2008r2 native? And do you see any 4768 or 4769 events on your domain controller security logs?

Done, I'll report back any findings. **EDIT1 I got a ticket open and setup a test case. We have LEM onsite and our server team put the LEM client on all our DC's and my desktop. I shutdown and rebooted, logged in and LEM caught the whole thing. UDT shows no change to the login times. Sent those files over to support.…

So am I day dreaming or was that basic IP SLA functionality in APM before? We'll have to allocate some funds for IPSLA Manager. -b

As there is no "transport input" for a console port, no, this can not be fixed. e-

I have a followup question to this. I am trying to price out Orion NPM, Netflow and APM, per the online quote I think our enviroment will need the SL2000, but there doesnt seem to be a SL2000 for APM. do the licenses have to match? Or could I get a SL2000 for NPM, then a SL100 for Netflow(only about 15 routers in our env),…

So my understanding after having worked with Adrian and Francois is that all operations but the path operations(Path Echo and Path Jitter) are created, polled and deleted via SNMP. Only path echo and jitter are done via the CLI so my question to you would be what is your exact IOS version and what operations are you using?…
-
Ok just want to make sure its an IOS problem and not IPSLA, and per that other link, glad its at least now "on the list". I'll report back what TAC says.

Well how about that, so there is.....

We recently purchased the aforementioned product, WPM, thus far have been very happy with it. To quote our sharepoint admins "you can do that?!?"

So the KB in question says 1.7 and above, and says sh ip dhcp pool needs to be supported. WHich is a command that doesnt exist on the Cisco 6500vss. So why is VSS specifically mentioned in the release notes for 201? The kb, and the currently function ipam v201 would appear to conflict with the release notes. Unless there…

I know my enviroment rather well, one would hope so, so with things like ICMP echo's and generic TCP connects its a no brainer. But I guess my point is did someone somewhere do a baseline of how a DHCP server(or SQL, www, etc) would perform in a perfect network to say "set the bar"? I mean if I get 2 seconds on a DHCP…

So i am just curious, and you dont have to answer this, but how many Netflow sources are you pushing to your Orion DB and where are you seeing your bottleneck. Also whats the setup of your DB server? i only have about 20 sources, my hardware is isolated so if everything goes down Orion is still up to tell you "hey…

Doh! Now I feel kind of dumb for not seeing that. thanks for the heads up! -b

I still have a ticket open for this, sent my DB in for dev to look at. The UDT_PortToEndpoint table shows devices appearing then disappearing in just a few miliseconds and its happening with every IP in my enviroment(~5000). The table itself cant be displayed because its too big now. Something like 262 million rows last…

Will do, thanks M.

Well this was weird. With the new NTA being on a separate server we uninstalled NTA entirely from our pollers with the intention of reinstalling later, and even though the windows control panel reporting that NTA was uninstalled, it was still on the system. I've never been one to "reboot and ask questions later" so I…
