  • Thanks for your patience. It works now. The key is understanding that Suppression can be based on any node, not just the node that raised the alert. Maybe that is obvious to some people, but I was thinking "how can you raise an alert if the node is called x and then suppress it if the node is called y"?
  • OK, I see. So trigger conditions are properties of the event, but suppression conditions are for any object in the database. In your example, your trigger says if Tier 3 and your suppression is on Tier 2. In the trigger is there any need to specifiy Tier 3? I assume the trigger could apply to any node at that site…
  • Yes, I can create suppression conditions fine. Its just that I don't see how you can create a condition that tests the status of a different node. What is the actual condition you use to suppress an alert for node x based on the status of node y?
  • I can set a static value in a custom property telling me that node y is the parent of node x. But then if I said "fire an alert unless parent is node y" it will never fire. I can't set a dynamic value telling me the status of node y - unless I write a SQL query and have it fire every minute or so. Is that what is meant?
  • I must admit I don't see how even the suppression that is described here can work. I hope I am missing something simple. For an event to trigger an alert: * the event meets the criteria for the trigger * that same event does not meet the suppression criteria. The event of node x has no knowledge of any other event. It…
  • SP2 on Server 2008 fails in exactly the same way.
  • I had a quick go at creating a unique ID but I don't see a way to carry it over from the trigger to the reset. If you use Trigger Time I think this will show different times for the trigger and the reset. Maybe not, I can't say I have tested it. We can get the SNMP contact and location from Orion; but really I would like…
  • Thanks! It works now
  • Same bug here. The 95th percentile reports in the web console run fine, but in the Report Writer it just hangs when you preview it.
  • Hi, and thanks. I had an evaluation version set up. I don't recall exactly the steps I took. I originally assumed I would just be licensing it, before I discovered I had to re-install. I am not looking forward to either of those options. I had a difficult time installing the service packs with several support calls and…
  • We can generate an incident OK, by e-mail. The things that are missing are: * Some way to close the incident with the reset action. I have yet to find a unique ID in the Alert. If there were a unique ID we could search for it in the ticket and close it * Properties of the alert that we could translate into device or…
  • The aim is to suppress alerts from other devices at a remote site if the remote site router goes down. They aren't really down, you just can't see them any more because of the router.
