The "fix" is to shut down Serv-U, exit the tray utility, rename the .dll file, and then perform the install. I'd LOVE to see one update come out where you just click the executable, watch the progress bar go all the way from left to right without any intervention, and finish successfully.

Thanks for replying, it reminded me of the thread and that I should share what I learned in case anyone else runs into it. I did eventually solve this. In the user properties, I left the user's directory access settings at %HOME% = RWADN-LCRNI. That's like wide open read/write access. And then I modified the NTFS…

Were you using any custom HTML settings, and if so did they work OK following upgrade?

Yes, I did create a support ticket following my most recent reply on this thread. And I did get the cache/cookies recommendation as well, which had no effect. Since my reply on 1/7/22, I've had several more clients and one vendor who have come up with the exact same problem authenticating. All of them have proxy servers in…

One client's IT team got involved today and resolved their problem getting to our site by SSL/Forward Bypassing our site on their proxy server. I spoke, albeit briefly, with their IT analyst who was on the task. Between the two of us, the only system change on either side that occurred in the time period when these…

Had two more clients bring up the same problem today. I was fortunate to have one of them this time open to having a phone call with me. He was working from home, connected to work VPN. I asked if he had a home machine he could try from. He did. Logged into the site no problem. So he's going to contact their IT management…

Would if it were remotely evident how. I can "report as abusive".

I believe this has solved the dilemma. Thank you for the help. I'm blasting some enormous chunks of IP addresses from China, and my daily log files have dropped about half in size.

You may be correct. I wish that were written better. Like "The rule 221.*.76-154.89 is perfectly OK" - I assume that's going to affect the IP range 221.0.76.xxx through 221.154.89.xxx? Their only legible example is the one blocking the three IP addresses .128/129/130. I have a couple rules I want in place to block large…

That was 'probably' because when we turn off Serv-U there is a bit of delay before the .dll is unlocked. So it was still tied up when you attempted install, but released by the time you moved the file manually.

Yes, same thing happening here. I appreciate your noting the frequency, as that detail had escaped me. I got too focused on the possibility I was being exploited and was trying to correlate specific IPs accessing hosts prior to shutdown. Got too far down that rabbit hole & missed the more obvious. I had created a ticket on…

I see in the feedback "Status: TLS connection established". If your NAS already has TLS 1.0 disabled (TLS 1.0 will be deprecated June 30, 2018), and if you are using a browser that can't do TLS 1.1+, then your connection attempts would fail. Here is a link that provides browser TLS support status: Help | Training |…
