Yes please! I find myself building APM:SQL queries to identify pool and/or pool member status to trigger alerts. Where I could use advanced SQL in the advanced alert, we want to see something tangible in web console for at-a-glance red/yellow/green peace of mind along with hysterical reporting.
-
I have used a feature like this (other external monitoring vendor) and we loved it. Muting the alerts allowed use of console to provide assurance that services/servers came back after forklift upgrade of core switching or other similar event.
-
If I understand you correctly, "acknowledge" will only work or be available after the alert was triggered. The goal, at least mine, would be to avoid alerts in the first place during planned maintenance for core network devices.

A network comprised of 150 global locations drives a requirement to schedule discovery per sub-net to a per-determined maintenance window. Ability to scan once upon the scheduled time is another requirement. We can't have sub-net scans traversing sensitive LAN/WAN links outside of specific times of day or days of the week.

To keep it simple, if I had the ability to grant these rights... 1) Full access - add/del/mod nodes and attributes 2) Review only - allow the use of 'manage nodes' to browse/find nodes and attributes 3) Modify node resources only - ex. add volume to an existing node 4) Modify node custom properties only

Improvements to Node Management needs to happen for Solarwinds to maintain its place as the primary enterprise systems monitoring tool for us. A global enterprise with dispersed IT support and management teams needs the ability to silo certain tasks while opening up some tasks to share workload in maintaining the solution…

Thank you, I look forward to it...

Your list hits most of the high points for me. Maintaining group membership based upon node attributes would be my number one. You touched on World Wide Map, if geocode attribute data became available for groups then I'd start using that feature. Otherwise implying this data across a thousands of nodes, across hundreds of…

Submitted the survey, anxious to give this a go with much work underway to develop standard monitoring templates for our SQL servers in the wild. The added functionality will save much time for me and help keep our compressed DBA team.
-
Start small? "readonly" access to the Node Management tool would be fabulous. The consumer audience has grown to such a point that I have to create a custom view filtered to a subset of systems to make quicker process for them to find systems of concern to them or their support teams. The node management tool, provides…

Yes, and other tools appear focused on Cisco technologies. I assume EIGRP will appear, I voted up, we'll see.

Quick perspective, this is a minor thorn. But when you consider in aggregate the number of times this "glitch" must be dealt with daily, it is on the mind when exploring other monitoring solutions for Application Performance Monitoring and other needs.

I believe I noticed the same thing as Guru, while walking around the DB myself. Logically, it could be a quick easy win to add a feature to review recently deleted node(s)/element(s) where the auditing feature captures that information along with the user who performed the action.
-
This idea posted 8/12 and quickly acknowledged with "we're starting to hear more and more requests for granular control of user rights" along with inquiry about what rights are important to us. The recent feature enhancements with NPM 10.6 and SAM 6 are awesome. But please, lets not overlook the low hanging fruit.

Custom property field(s) or defined field(s) to filter group lists presented to different audiences would be nice. Where over time you could create a large number of location based groups to leverage dependencies on associated location router groups, the list can get quite long. Nesting groups is possible, however dynamic…

I would think the current "unmanaged mode" functionality could be leveraged to offer the ability to schedule maintenance windows. In conjunction with this more flexibility with "time of day" when configuring alert actions could be another avenue with these added functions * "Do not execute this action" * 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and…

The ability to place nodes and group objects on the map dynamically would offer much needed efficiency to mapping objects in Orion. As with aged Network Atlas, World Wide Maps will become cumbersome with time and adds yet one more layer to update with each node added or removed to keep your map accurate. At least with…

Agreed! If I could apply more than one vote to this I would. Reference my notes from the NPM 10.7 availability post Re: ANNOUNCING GENERAL AVAILABILITY OF NPM 10.7. This "lost value" add must be reverted ASAP! It has been received poorly by a growing consumer community here as I work to solidify Enterprise Systems…

I was able to submit a ticket outside of customer portal. We worked the case and it remains open to observe the system for a few days and report any further issues. Reinstalled info service after some house cleaning in the DB.

Ah K, thanks for clarifying that aLTeReGo!

I was able to make this work, SELECT SEUM_TransactionsReportsView.Name AS Name, AVG(PercentAvailability) AS '30 Day Avg Availability', MIN(MinDuration) AS '30 Day Min Duration', MAX(MaxDuration) AS '30 Day Max Duration', AVG(AvgDuration) AS '30 Day Avg Duration' FROM SEUM_TransactionsAvailability JOIN…

edit: The alternate link just worked!

If we cannot put a threshold against this component on the AppInsight for SQL template, then there must be a way to disable that component. On the matter of not being able to set a threshold, why does the setting appear if it does nothing? There are a number of jobs running in our environment expected to fail (frequently).…

Thanks for the tip. I find no WPM reports (web-based or report writer) listed. I'll open a case to review in more detail. I did generate a custom report with SQL datasource that fills the basic need, no of course I need to pare this down to reflect availability during agreed upon support hours. In other words identify…

yes and yes. trying again a moment ago, yes and yes.

As of today, no response. The link to Latest version: v10.5.0 Release Notes » from customer portal and broadcast via "product updates" on the NPM web console are incorrect and take you to a product update from last year. A simple mistake, but a pain to explain to management repeatedly... when they continue to ask questions…

Seriously? On Thwack I suggest SPOC w/Solarwinds, and get two suggestions for third party support services.

Something provided through the holidays. The map image swapped out for simple heat map with a grid of colored squares. Working through implementation of world-wide-map and looking forward to new NOC view features. By the nature of our business we have "branch" locations, and "distribution" centers. A DR location to mirror…

Generally speaking I am liking the new features, added value. One thing I don't know if caught in beta was the change to custom node property names, as they appear in node management. Where we use a number of custom properties the addition of "custom node properties - " as a prefix to all of our custom node properties…
