The last SWUG I attended was very good and I will gladly attend then next, if it is easy enough to get to. I am based out in the Shires, and it takes about 90 minutes to get into London, but we don't finish until 6pm, making getting to a SWUG prior to 7.30 pm difficult.

We have users who need various admin rights, but not all - as they do insist on dicking around with the default views and charts (come on people export, not edit - but do they listen?). I would love to be able to stop their pesky chart and view fiddling, and leave them with admin rights they need still.

Nov 27th apparently "Simplified compliance" does not equal "Reduced need for compliance oversight" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I like the the idea IT Darwin Awards, as mentioned by rschroeder, submit your story (stories) and vote on up during the day (some timezone thinking to consider) With some nice Thwack goodies giveaways or even some inexpensive Geek Tech (like a few Raspberry Pi Zero Ws perhaps).

KMSigma did a rather good post on how he builds an Orion server, and puts the ProgramData on it's own drive. Well worth a read - How I Build an Orion Server » Kevin's Ramblings

I to chatted to one of the OpsGenie sales guys, who had noted my comments on this thread. I watched the demo, I can't deny it had some good functionality. But, I remember a time..... (grey mist swirls in, ripple effect) When I used to have this functionality, when the management system ran on HP-UX monoliths and the…

And it's now the next time zone's turn to complain about the lack of a multiple choice option.

Before IT, I was a NHS nurse. And the vast majority of people wearing face masks and gloves, do not have a clue on how or when to use them.

My biggest fear is loss of our SolarWinds monitoring, take today when one of network team configured an ASA to send syslog into our system, at some 2,000 messages a second. The DB filled so rapidly we couldn't keep up, filled the logs whilst trying to bulk delete the unwanted messages and ended up having to split the…

I would love to, and don't get me wrong, coming from FoE to the new HA, has been a delight. And the effort that has been put in to the new product, is very obvious.

Bump and shameless plug - The reason for this plug is that if we had the user session timeout event, added to the AuditingEvent table, then we be able to work out who is actually online. Without it we can only know when they last logged on not if they are still online.

Me to, question 20 was not only half written, but the result just blanked out (Chrome). It's now blocked me from trying again or seeing my results.

Dark side bump When I saw the Dark Side link, I got quite excited, finally it's here!!!! Only to be disappointed by the distinct lack of Dark (theme option) Side. I, of course, ignored the Light Side. We're still waiting.

Manually.... I created the schedule on one of the Orion servers, using Windows Scheduled Tasks, then exported it to a file, manually copying it over to each server, with the relevant unmange script. Repeating the process for each scheduled task.

@yumdarling could you reset my first question please? I answered it correctly on day 1 only to be told that i was wrong and then showed the wrong selection.

https://www.cybrary.it provides quite a bit of free training, and plenty of material on ethical hacking, pen-testing and such. Along with the basics, it also has a lot of the Rapid7 Metasploit tools are covered here as well. Worth a look, if that's your thing.

And I still don't have the control I need.

I was told that that the older TLS versions are still included for the old report writer and the advanced alert manager tools. And once these tools have been dropped from Orion, so can the older TLS versions.

Use Custom Properties to define the groups (say customer, location, office, etc), as these are visible from Node Manager as filters. Then use dynamic Group definitions based on that custom property, all nodes with Customer = "Acme Industries" belong in the Acme Group.
