this has to be most ignored product ever, surverys, thwack posts have lead to nothing... its the b!@#tard child of the suite of the products that we have here we have such a great of set maps and would like to delegate the rights to respective people to update (without having node admin). however all we get its a feature…

can this be used with other monitors such as Perf counters? would be useful when adding specific instances of older SQL servers. * ${Application.Name}

would be good if the legacy links will automatically be transformed to the new portal, instead it just shows error, this is even on some of the support cases.

I had an interesting question, I have a cisco 3850 stack and obviously nothing's supported out of the box, so I've used UnDP to pull the table where the stack status is stored, I was wondering how does one alert on this?
-
I've had quite an experience with Log Forwarder in terms of support, so thanks but no thanks for Alert Central
-
looks like there is more support for this community than from Solarwinds. Some of the workarounds seem more viable than an update from the product managers.
-
I can confirm this is not in NPM 12 Thanks & Regards, Vikrem

is it possible to post the SWQL on this please? I've tried this but I am unable to get the value anywhere to compare this. CurrentValue returns 'Not available for tabular pollers'. any help is appreciated.
-
Thanks for the quick response mate. any intelligent workarounds sir? It's a pain having to edit 20 components per instance and updating the SQLSERVER:Component to MSSQL$<instance_name>:Component to get that working as we have quite a number of named instances.

found answer to my own question. I've had the following as trigger and the bottom as reset which essentially just looks for down message after up and up message after down instead of anytime in the last day. I am not sure exactly where the message will be stored so I've OID.Value as the place for now but it can be changed…

I have the exact same problem and also would like to know if this has been fixed and if a hotfix or a new version has been released.
-
also I am surprised this has not come up before. from what I can see this is not a best practice and poses security risks. last but not least it will not be SoX compliant if audited
-
great thanks. But looks like the append is actually replacing? not appending as you would think?
-
that's what you have mentioned about two months ago. perhaps is there a place i can lookup "CORE-3439" and find more information?
-
Thanks Dan, I've looked at that before posting here, so I am guessing AddNote has now deprecated?
-
can you please let us know where the feature request is at as well?
-
thank but I've already stated this above in my comment. Also unfortunately it cannot inferred from this statement [Either mixed-mode or SQL authentication must be supported.] that the SQL authentication is the only method to connect to DB for Solarwinds application. As it is I am stuck with the setup of Solarwinds right…

Thank you that fixed that error (suppose didnt realise that the Alert add and this was on different ones), now i am getting a slightly different error. Invoke-SwisVerb : Verb Orion.AlertActive.AppendNote cannot unpackage parameter 0 At line:68 char:15 + $result = Invoke-SwisVerb $swis Orion.AlertActive AppendNote @(1,…

thanks. if we are to use the -SkipAsSource at the point of fail-over, wouldn't that alleviate the issue? imagine whitelisting in an environment where we have additional pollers with a similar setup, it becomes a nightmare to load balance the polling with having to add 3 IPs with every polling source.
-
same here, the appendnote does not work in powershell. Invoke-SwisVerb : Verb Orion.AlertStatus.AppendNote: Not found At line:68 char:15 + $result = Invoke-SwisVerb $swis Orion.AlertStatus AppendNote @([int]$alert.A ... + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ + CategoryInfo :…

may I know where this is documented? I see the schema in github lists the methods but there is no definition of what parameters needs to be sent. I was hoping i dont have to scourge through the forums yet again to find out something as simple as what parameters a method needs. Is there no documentation whatsoever?
-
yea and its amazing that the config wizard just silently creates an account when you are connected to it as dbo with rights to create an user account. i am just in the process of the setting up our initial instance and I cant find anywhere in the requirements where it says there is a requirement for using a sql account…

is the CRUD no longer functional? If so may I please know why we have references to AppendNote as a method but it doesnt actually work as per wiki page here: Alerts · solarwinds/OrionSDK Wiki · GitHub

That is great information, we're in a similar boat eh... gonna switch to Agents due to security mandates. but we have close to 400 servers where we are performing a switch I hope there is a bulk 'Poll NOW' Steven Carlson wrote: After our support session with Dev, it looks like my agent issues could be a bug from swapping…

I see that in the beta documentation that we need to whitelist all three IPs? Is there not a way to just use the VIP? It's more elegant this way.
-
Thanks mr.Alterego, if only support can be as good as you are with prognosis. We do have the management IP as a higher IP than the floating IP yet we still face the issue, I am going to try what you've mentioned as use skipassource to see if that alleviates the issue
-
during POC it worked alright. we were able to control that setting independent of the global setting. though log a case with support to be sure. to add about the scan its quite limited and it doesnt flood. I think it pings 2 devices at the same time and doesnt scan the subnets more often than the duration you've set. most…
-
thanks mate. is there a chance you can PM me the case number please so we can get that referenced in our case ( if you dont mind?)
-
we are facing the same issue here in our implementation of over 800 servers Is there a case number that we can reference so we can skip the usual initial BS we get from support?
-
we realised when we switch from wmi to agent, the volumes, all the app assigned are deleted... is this a feature of the switch?
