  • We ran into the same thing when we were using basic alerts. The only way I found to clear them was to disable and then re-enable the alert. Have you given any thought to converting to advanced alerts instead? Advanced alerts are much more flexible than basic alerts, and if you're in an environment where you are continually…
  • We're running it on VM, and it's working quite well for us. Here's a little info about our Orion environment. Orion host server - Acts as web host, syslog server, tftp server, and alert engine (beta), as well as a centralized server for performing all configuration tasks for the entire Orion installation. One additional…
  • We had not created any new accounts since upgrading to 8.5.1, but I just did it and it seems to be updating the login time correctly for me. That's a weird one. Did you make any web customizations that could have affected the behavior of the "Account List" page? If you look directly in the DB, do you see the correct…
  • Chris, Speaking for myself, it's not so much the administration of Cirrus that's a problem (TS is OK for that), it's user access. The idea of a Cirrus client is really not very appealing. While it would be nice to have an efficient, fully functional web interface to administer the app (ACD devices, users, etc), given a…
  • Have you tried running the Configuration Wizard again?
  • You should see a "Personalize" button in the upper right corner of the page.
  • I'm actually more curious about the SNMP Trap Receiver Beta that's now available under "Additional Components".
  • Clint,The main thing on which to focus is where the dependencies lie. In your scenario:All 25 servers depend on SwitchA, RouterB, and RouterA.SwitchA depends on RouterB and RouterA.RouterB depends on RouterA. What you will need to do is build a separate alert for each level of dependency. In your example, this would mean…
  • Torrie Are you using the "Node List - Custom Grouping and Filtering" resources? How large/complex are your node lists? It's been my experience that the number of devices, levels of grouping, and complexity of the filters, plays a big role in how long the resource takes to load. Maybe you could try detaching them one at a…
  • We really need a way to display only the pertinent variables, rather than all variables passed with the trap. With OpenView NNM, we had the ability to do this, but I don't see that mechanism in Orion.
  • This is a duplicate post and was actually answered here.
  • We're still holding at 7.8.5. While I am concerned about the advanced alerting engine and custom mib polling, the biggest thing that bothers me is the lack of confidence in the stability of the 8.x product in general. It just seems to me that there are too many bugs left to shake out. If the 8.1 release lives up to the…

  • Do you have multiple IP addresses on the switch? If so, are you specifying which interface to use as the source of syslog messages via the "logging source-interface" command, and is that the same interface IP used to define the device in Orion?
  • This seems to be a recurring issue with a number of customers. Here is another recent post with the same symptoms. We have seen similar issues in prior releases (prior to 9.x), but it occurred very seldomly, and wasn't nearly as prevalent as with the new 9.1 SP5 instance that we are now running. In our particular case, we…
  • I'm curious as to the explanation for this, as we are seeing the same error messages. I assumed it meant that for some reason the connection between the server and the initiating IP SLA device timed out.
  • Can you attach screen shots of what you're seeing?
  • Do these devices pop an entry in the log when a switch in the stack fails? If so, can you forward this syslog message to Orion and have it alert via a syslog rule?
  • Tomaz, I don't know the exact process by which Orion determines that an interface index changes, but I assume it compares this against some other variable such as "InterfaceName" when it does a rediscovery. Perhaps someone from SW can clarify. It's been my experience that when a new interface index is discovered, Orion…
  • After the SP3 Update, upon running the Web Config Wiz I told it to use the existing web site so as not to lose all the customization I've done. So, did you lose your web customizations? I assume you will lose them anytime you run the config wizard for the web component. This is something that worries me about installing a…
