  • I am running into the same thing. Same errors in the event log, same conditions that I can manually download configs, but the job won't download all configs. It will download some of my 128 devices, but never all, and it seems to always be the same devices failing. I am running the latest NPM, NCM, and several other…
  • This image is from a slightly modified out of the box alert for high CPU usage. There is a check box at the bottom that will require that the condition exist for a certain amount of time before alerting. Another method would be to add an escalation to the trigger action after 10 minutes.
  • I don't know of any way to do what your asking for the way you have it laid out. The closest I know would be to use the tooltips to show the information you want when you hover over a node. To add variables to the tooltips, you can click "Edit" from the map on the web console and then click "Customize map tooltips." For…
  • If you are running on SQL, a backup of the database can be done from the management console like any other database backup. However, it is a bit unclear what you're trying to achieve. Are you upgrading your NPM or is there an issue that you're trying to correct, or are you looking to migrate to a different machine? Is your…
  • In the trigger conditions, in the drop down for "I want to alert on:", select "Group." This will give you the options to select which group name below. I believe this is new in NPM 12 though. I don't remember seeing this before.
  • My Info Sec guys just asked me why my Orion server is ping 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2 every night at 11pm. I am not running NPM 12 yet, and it has been doing this for at least the passed month. Have you made any headway with support on this case?
  • When you go to edit the IP address, there is a field called "Scanning." Turn this off and your entries will not be overwritten.
  • Also, a nice place to play and know you won't ruin anything would be the interactive demos. On a lot of the product pages on solarwinds.com, you can see a button for the interactive demo and it takes you to a virtual environment.
  • The few upgrades I've done, I've never had a problem losing anything such as alerts or functionality. I would recommend using the upgrade tool. It will ask what your environment currently is and what you want to step up to and then give you a path and links to the downloads. Product Upgrade Advisor | SolarWinds Customer…
  • If you're leaving the database where it is, you should be able to just remove the licenses from your current box, install everything on the new box and point it at the database. There is some information in the documentation area of the NPM product page on Thwack that will walk you through requirements, but it largely will…

  • It looks like you are using the default "public" string, and that is why it is coming up on vulnerability reports. You should be changing your default strings if you're using SNMP, or turning them off if you're not using SNMP depending on your organizations tolerance for security.
  • I am getting this as well. Same as you've described. The second time works, but usually the first attempt fails in the middle. I am running NPM 11.5.2, SAM 6.2.1, and a few other products as well.
  • I have mine installed on my laptop rather than access it from the server and I know I need to have the server address in the login window...any chance you're not connecting to your server when you open it?
