I know exactly what your microbiologist friends was talking about adatole. In my undergraduate B.E. curriculum it was a theme from our instructors - good engineers don't know all the trivial facts, we are here to teach you how to solve problems. To give you an understanding of what kinds of solutions are possible in a…

Yes it is weird. In all the years I have been doing missions I have never had the system tell me I got it wrong for an answer I did not select. I do not envy marcoswithanoh either in tracking this down. It looks like it happened to jessem too, 4 hours after me.

My niece who works for UPS says the online sales exceeded expectations by over 25% so all the shippers networks are maxed out. So perhaps day 23 won't get delivered until after Christmas.

Dogs barking to be let out, dogs barking to be let in, cats that walk across the keyboard and hang up the call. All this and more has happened during the last 9 months. While my groups has never been shy about talking about our pets before, we now get to experience them. The most astounding thing is the noises that some of…

The WOnders reminded me of some of my favorite early Marshal Crenshaw tunes. But I grew up with The Monkees and The Partridge Family on TV. So there is that.

I use Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin, the native browser, and a Samsung version. They all behave a little differently since the rendering engines are different. I mostly use Chrome and Dolphin for interacting with SolarWinds resources.

Have not seen this one in awhile. Heck of a way to start your day.

If they can monitor it they can monetize it! So as a for profit corporation, why would they not do that. Just look at how infrastructure as a service is priced and billed.

Solarwinds pizza delivery options are only available in New Zealand in partnership with Domino's Pizza. When your email system crashes an out of band message is sent to your local Domino's Pizza retailer and your preconfigured pizza order is delivered by drone. SO that you don't have to leave the office to get something to…

Perhaps a pulling back into a secure private cloud - on premise solution. As external forces push us to meet security requirements that just can not be guaranteed in the public clouds with out what seems like exorbitant costs. If upper management balked at the cost differential from Enterprise class disks and those…

Agreed the question says that the host is the VM and you cannot migrate the host. Although others are right you can figure it out.

After 35 years in IT and related positions I can say that planning is necessary. There are times, while I admit not many, that things go exactly as planned. When they do the forethought given to details is much appreciated because the schedule goes faster and costs are kept down. Thing is when things go as planned they…

I would also add that for more experienced folks, do not fall into the "everything old is new again" trap. If you carried a pager around and were used to getting alerts that way. Do not discount the use of IM and Twitter. During my graduate studies we had a special lecture with a gentleman from upper management at Bell…

Today's survey question about the best data breach name was odd, I had not really heard names except for the firms involved. One report I saw indicated some 679 breaches were reported so far this year exposing some 81.3 million records. Home Depot being the worst of the lot at roughly 56 million all by themselves. It has…

Late to the game but completed it.

Thank you!

The config change indicates that the traffic is now looping so dies on the link. The sample right before red indicates that R1 routes thru R9 to get to NetSuite. R1 appears to have nothing wrong with it.

Not a haunted data center, but an abandoned one. No equipment or personal where in the building, so it looked empty. An individual decided that stealing the copper from the electrical service could yield some quick cash. They decided to crawl under the fence with some wire cutters and snip it off near the ground. They were…
