OK so I just tested this manually, and I have found out something: Executing these commands manually, results in the same behaviour.. uploaded config is not being loaded by the switch.. I think it is an issue with the switch because all the documentation I have found on these switches indicates that these are the correct…

I respectfully disagree. See line 12627 (among others) of the trace for details: -->copy t192.168.1.88/27047.config nvram Process Line = <copy t192.168.1.88/27047.config nvram> Pushing back: <copy t192.168.1.88/27047.config nvram> mPrompt is : <cmdtest#> --> --> TFTP successfully downloaded configuration file --> Error:…

Yes, give it a try it should work.

You know, it's almost as if cirrus is uploading an exact duplicate of the running config back to the device, instead of our baseline config, which is what we are trying to send. Also, the error with the two DNS servers is interesting: our original config only has one DNS server defined, but some point along the way, the…

First, this is a very long trace file, so the important stuff is near the bottom. I also did not see a reboot or 'reload' command sent to the device in the trace, but the template does include the corrrect commands for rebooting the server. EDIT: Actually, looking at it again, it DOES appear to have successfully rebooted…

I tried it with both save to nvram and reboot device options enabled, but it did not seem to reboot the device. Attached is the latest trace log.
-
No, I did not, but my reading of the cisco 1900 documentation seemed to suggest that this was not necessary. I will try it though.
-
OK I got this working sort of.. but now when I try to upload my baseline config, nothing actually changes on the device as far as I can tell. the results window shows that it was successfully uploaded.. which is strange. So does the trace as far as I can see.
-
yes we are using telnet/tftp.. but the option to restore the config is not there! Is this because the device template does not include the "copy tftp: //x.y.z.a/blah.filename" command, or maybe because I'm using the demo version of Cirrus?
-
I'm pretty sure we are using telnet/tftp but I'll double check. thanks.
-
I was wondering about something I noticed... it seems to be impossible to restore a previously backed-up config to the cisco 1900 device.. Is this because the adapter (or template or whatever it is called here) for the device does not support this feature, or is this a problem with Cirrus?
-
hello, changed the devicename to a six-character word, and it fixed the problem right away! Thank you for your help in resolving this issue. I do wonder what the root cause was though. bad regex?

Following your instructions, I have produced a trace file. Here it is.
-
I will try to grab the trace using the method you described.
-
bump. The trace is posted above.
-
see above. you can only add one attachment at a time for some reason, so when I added the trace, then added the template, only the template got posted. I'll resist the urge to complain about it though.
-
Appears you can only add one file attachment per message?
-
I presume this is what you are talking about?? FTR, it exhibits the same behaviour regardless of what I have in the VirtualPrompt tag. Does the same thing even when using the original config, which is also attached.
-
when you figure out what the problem was, could you please post a follow-up for the rest of us? Thanks.

HI, I'm evaluating this product for use within my department. one of our test devices is an old cisco catalyst 1900. I came upon this thread while searching for a solution to my problem: I used someone's updated catalyst 1900 device types to get past the initial "m for menu, k for console" prompt, and that worked great.…

So, with the release of Orion, do we now have the capability to keep track of more than one config 'file' per device? Or is it still limited to one config/one device? anyone?
-
Also wanted to know about transferring the license between the two servers: The manual states that you should use the Solarwinds LIcense manager software to do this. This leads me to ask the question: Does this mean both servers must have internet connectivity in order to transfer the license, or is there an off-line…

How often this works, any gotchas that are common, etc.. ?

Also interested in this... been quite a while now.. any progress?

I had the same problem as the OP had, but the instructions posted in this thread fixed it for me. However, I've yet to install this product without requiring manual 'hacks' like this to get it working. edit: my bad, it wasn't the exact same instructions. This is the thread I was talking about though, may help.…

I am going to try to do this again from scratch. I have a feeling that my problems are related to the fact that the Orion NCM server was originally not part of a domain when it was installed, instead it was added to the domain later. I suspect if it had been a member of the domain and installed by a domain admin that I…

Hey Rob, that worked out OK, but then I got a message saying that I needed to enable Mixed Mode Authentication on my SQL database.. Since I'm using SQL Express 2005 that shipped with Cirrus, I had to use the instructions found here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319930 to enable mixed mode authentication.. After that, I…

Thanks Rob, I'll give this a shot!

Any input from SW tech staff on this idea?

When this job is saved as a file, does it create a new file each time ,or can it append the output to a single file?
