* Orion on RDS - Support for Amazon RDS as the repository for the Orion database Would this be a full fledged support for Amazon RDS as backend DB for Solarwinds? Does it mean we can get rid of on-premise SQL server?

Still no 2.0?

Network Insight for Cisco ASA - Covering things like VPN tunnel monitoring, ACL visibility, and improved platform health (H/A status, hardware health). I would like to see details like connection count history & NAT entries history Integrated High Availability Engine I'm interested to know what we can expect from this.…

This aligns well with our usage scenario and the pain point experienced in managing the system in a big team. Suppose many users share the same concern. Custom properties are one of the most powerful features of Orion, can Solarwinds make it more robust so that it can scale up well for big organizations? Having a mandatory…

Such False positives ruin the meaningfulness of several web resources that we don't put them up on the dashboard. Otherwise we will have to explain why the node is shown as down. We also want alerts when devices stop responding to SNMP (discussions here, here and here) due to following reasons: a) Sometimes I have found…

That's great! Kudos to the entire team. To be honest, when we requested this feature we didn't imagine it could be implemented in such a nice manner. Can't wait to use it in NPM :)
-
Do we have the facility to have default values in custom properties? https://thwack.solarwinds.com/message/161894#161894

Finally good news about Dynamic thresholds. Is it the same feature as SAM Threshold Baseline Calculator? I understand it is already available in SAM 6.0, I wonder why it is taking long to arrive at NPM. Dynamic threshold would be a huge life saver for us.
-
Great Post! Especially since we have so many nodes with multiple IP addresses causing them to be added several times. But I don't understand your last two conditions in SQL. Would you mind explaining them? Dup1.NodeID = Nodes.NodeID and Dup1.DynamicIP = 0 group by Dup1.NodeID) is not null
-
It would be a very useful feature. Please raise a Feature request, I would endorse it.

Bump! I am surprised no one is interested in this. I tried to search but couldn't find a similar question. Based on my experience in operations so far, I am convinced Trend based alerts makes more sense than an universal threshold based alerts.

What handles the log file name change? I am not sure how you wish to run the perl script. Is the timestamp based on log file's date attributes or current system time?

1) What protocols/routing data do you need to monitor? EIGRP, OSPF, Static Routes 2) What value do you expect from this routing table monitoring (just actual state, do you want to compare it against older snapshots, what info are you looking for there) Grab the routing table periodically (Part of NCM inventory) Compare it…

I did the same thing in my environment as well. We have over 900 monitored nodes and I setup the alert threshold based on 1 year average. I wanted to group them into pools of 20% range, so as to simplify the effective thresholds. I used the following formula in Excel: =CEILING(CPU_AVG/20,1)*20 This of course was not…

Bump!

It is a very good question, because by the nature of Alert definition in Orion, it is not very clear which nodes/interfaces it applies to (if your conditions are too detailed). Over a course of time, it becomes essential to pick some core nodes and check whether all policies created are applicable for it (i.e, not skipped…

Found my answer. For all those looking for an answer, see the links below where this has already been discussed: Trap Alert/Filter Variables question Need to extract info from an SNMP trap.

Looking forward to GA and release notes.

I tried the same thing, but I am receiving the output in 3 tabs.
-
Can you post the content of the alert message? I think it is using triggered value in the message. You can modify it to reflect the current value.

But there seems to be a bug in Variables for Custom Node Table Poller. I previously composed the following URL to send out links for Custom Poller charts:…

Makes sense!

Another upgrade, another failure and now I am stuck with unresponsive support. This time the failure is due to wrong procedures handed by the previous support. And the current support is getting offended and starts shouting when I express my frustration. This is a new low!!! I saw some big threads about what Solarwinds is…
-
Forget about terrible support, my complaint is about non-existent support! We had a Solarwinds tech to back us up during our upgrade but he had to leave at the end of his shift, with the promise that global support will pick up our case. We proceeded with our installation while nobody called. When we ran in to some issues…
-
I concur, but not all cases are supported terribly. Sometimes I get a good service, but there is definitely some scope for improvement. For instance, the support persons never care to check whether you are available for a Goto meeting, the link comes first. Even on occasions when I requested for Goto meeting on a specific…

Here is the template we use in our environment: ${node.Device_Function} ${NodeName} was ${Status} at ${DateTime}. The impacted areas are: ${node.Coverage_Location} The impacted services are: ${node.Covered_Services} For urgent escalation, please contact Network duty phone at : +XXXXX Device details: Site : ${node.Site}…

Anybody knows how to do this on NPM 12.0? I am missing some custom properties from Report writer.
-
The Charting for Multi-CPU chassis is in place, but how to setup alerts? Custom SQL query anyone?
-
Guys, can anyone help? Even the staff don't have any answer? This is a real need that we have, the DB schema of CBQoS is not so clear to be reverse engineered, so please help!
-
Guys, Any ideas? I figured out I need a custom SQL query but need some SQL Guru guidance to get it done.
