Wiki links were a good idea as I never watched "Lost" so I had no idea who Ben Linus was and my wife used to watch Buffy so I thought "The Master" was referring to the villain from that show

I like to check Gartner to make sure that I'm evaluating all the players in the same space but I don't know how many times a vendor has told me they are the leader in the Magic Quadrant. It seems like everyone was at some point (this quarter, last quarter, last year) and they always send me the specific report that shows…

When working in smaller companies you start out as an IT-Generalist but then your goal should be to move towards an IT-Veralist. It's not until moving into a larger company (or consulting company) that you really need to transition to IT-Specialist but I firmly believe that you need to have that IT-Veralist "skill-set" to…

When looking at a VMware posting for converting Thick to Thin (VMware KB: Changing the thick or thin provisioning of a virtual disk) or Cloning and Converting (VMware KB: Cloning and converting virtual machine disks with vmkfstools) it sounds like they would have some kind of Zero Detection built into their system.

Still a handful of Windows 2003 machines running legacy software where the developer no longer exists and we no longer had the installation software so I can't even try to move it. In those cases we have P2V everything that we can and keep trying to get the business to purchase replacement software.

So who won? I did a quick search but couldn't find the lucky winner...

That just means they are working on it. Probably deleted it to re-add it.

I think every database performance issue is a challenge with the challenge mostly between the DBA's and Developers trying to determine if it's a system related performance issue for poorly written code... Guess who has to check first...

I would think yes, but only if it was an exact match. If I typed in "CA01A282" hoping to match on "CA01A2820" I would want it to show that only CA01A2820 was available. If it when right to the nodes page on a partial match I might think that something was wrong with the search and keep trying to search.

We use Shavlik to patch 600+ servers, I like it a whole lot better than WSUS and the report you can get out of it are amazing!

That worked in giving me the data in Chart view. It would be nice to see it look more like individual charts stacked on top of each other kind of like this but it works for now. Thanks for the help!

What version are you currently running? 4.1.0 or 4.1.0 with a Hotfix? Have you tried applying any Hotfixes before applying 4.1.1 to see if they give you the same error message?

So when you check Under NTA Settings, Database Settings, you see the location of the database is Local and not remote?

Did you end up going with this configuration? how has it been working out for you? and if you could change one thing, what would it be? IE switch to a 6 disk RAID10 for D: and 3 disk RAID 1 for F: & G:

From the Main screen click on Settings -> Manage Groups Create a new group called “Site Nodes” In that group add in all the Nodes for that Site excluding the "main router" (use a Dynamic Query with IP Address) Save Create a second group call “Site 1” In that group add the group “Site Nodes” and the node “main router” Save…

It's been about a week since I did this one but I seem to recall that thinking about the definition of a "computer character" helped me solve the problem. In character-based software, everything that appears on the screen, including graphics symbols, is considered to be a character.
-
That really messed me up too. I was having a really hard time finding an answer with the correct amount of characters. But I eventually found it

Hi dsweir, thank you for the comment but as mentioned in the post attempts to use SNMP, WMI and ICMP all failed. The solution is to Run the Configuration Wizard on the Primary Poller and Select Website. Thanks,

adatole I'm assuming that upgrading from NPM 11 and SAM 6.1 to NPM 11.5 and SAM 6.2 is the same process but my question is with my additional poller, should I upgrade it after NPM 11.5 is installed and then again after SAM 6.2 is installed or should I just run the upgrade on the poller once after both products have been…

When I use Custom Chart, I can select "AppInsight for Exchange: Application" as my Datasource but it doesn't show any of the Exchange Specific information like RPC (I checked through all the items on the left) that I can see when I'm trying custom object resource. I'm not seeing it under Multiple Object Chart either If I…

I was having this same issue after upgrading from NPM 11.0.1 to NPM 11.5. I tried added new nodes and it would spin, I checked SNMP on existing services and WMI, they were both successfully but then on the next screen the List Resources would never complete. For me it turns out that after the update my Job Engine v2…

It still happens to me occasionally but not as often. I was always adding nodes using SNMP but have since switched to WMI so I'm wondering if that made a different? some underlining issue with SNMP not working properly maybe? I'm still using Google Chrome and haven't updated my SolarWinds versions

I know I can probably search and find out myself but it's more social to ask. What is a "Bracket Battle"? (FYI - I'm a new member this month) Thanks!

I was seeing something similar before upgrading. In my case the node would test okay, list resources and in the screen after or the next it would kick me back to the start of the add a node wizard. Then in January I upgraded a everything and I'm currently running SAM 6.2.1 (6.2.2395.1), NPM 11.5.2 HF4 (11.5.25304.0),…

I had a similar issue after upgrading from NPM 11.0.1 to NPM 11.5 and I'm responding to this one because when I was searching for my issue, I found this post so hopefully it will help other. When trying to "List Resources" it would spin and then timeout. I checked to make sure that I could connect to the devices using the…

I'm having the same issue. I joined on March 2nd of this year, didn't notice the date, then noticed on the 4th of March that it was incorrect and it has been incorrect everyday since then. I thought it was a date format setting on my machine because I use Day / Month / Year
