How can you ensure that you don't miss the smaller details, when you are under a massive attack? Since starting a massive DoS attack is trivial today, it can be used as a decoy, while simultaneously doing a more targeted attack. Also, centralizing all logging may open you up for an attack on available bandwidth and storage…

The Thwack community is definitely among the most vibrant vendor sites. There are small nuggets of wisdom all over the place, so even if you are going to Thwack to procrastinate, it almost feels like real work

I got a new chance to submit but the question was the same, and the answers still didn't made much sense as answers to the question. So using the same shot as before made me fail the question.

No problem, I understand priorities. I just find it curious. The current "Violation Details" looks like something that was only put in for internal debugging purposes. It adds almost no value to the end user unless it's the same user that created the violation rule, and afterwards follows up on the reports and therefore…

Same thing for me, and now I missed my chance of 200 points, as I tried just entering my username to see if the question would show up.

If you liked the Hitchhiker's Guide series then be sure to read the Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency novels as well

No points for non-US residents? I haven't received my points yet

DanielleH, any comments?

For personal support (like family and friends), I am still trying to teach them to use their mobile to take a picture

That was one tricky question today!

"Keep It Simple Stupid" or KISS, apparently from the US Navy: KISS principle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia People tend to go "Ooh, there's a handle, let's turn it" and end up in a situation where the installation is so specific that no one has applicable experience

Although I think it's annoying when you have to delete a node, until there's a possibility of undeleting a node (see http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/1070), I would prefer to not make the delete function too accessible.

Hmmm, I think I'll need a cup of tea in my space ship while I try to remember where I read that...

Great that you are now giving more people the chance to participate in the drawing! However, not even points for the rest of us anymore?

I'm still waiting on a marketing drone to start calling virtualization for Software Defined Hardware.
-
Yes, that's what I meant.

Is this based on a decision not to publish a database model, or is it because not enough people have requested this as a feature? If it is the latter, and I want to make a feature request, should I put a feature request under each individual product? I don't see a Feature Request forum for Orion SDK.

Perfect! This query does exactly what I need in SWQL Studio. Unfortunately, it doesn't work if I paste the same text in a Query box on our NCM web page. Do you think it could be due to SWIS v2/v3 issue?
-
When I execute your query, I don't see anyhing in the result that provide the relationship info for the two specific examples I provided. If you see something that clearly indicates the relationship, I would like to know how to interpret the result, so I can compare with my installation. Because then either our…

Hi Michal, Thank you. I found these two requests that looked relevant: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/1386 http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/1719 There are a few others that overlaps but these two specifically address my issue, either directly or in the comments section. I hope that when you look through the feature…

rschroeder, this should get you started. It requires an email server that allows you to send emails without authentication. As you can see in the reply from jswan above, you could use syslog instead. event manager environment email_server 192.168.0.25 event manager environment email_to nwalert@example.com event manager…

Thank you. This one did what I asked for but created a new problem As mentioned in my original thread, I was going to query for more, so I also need to query "Orion.NodesCustomProperties.Provider_name <> 'providerX'" and Unmanaged='False' Unmanaged='False' is fine; I can just add that to the query, but I guess the other…

Your answer prompted me to look for a method to disable the encryption. After disabling encryption, I can now generate the needed csv file. I am doing it in the Database Manager as this is a bit more flexible than the Reports.
-
I'm sorry, if I'm a bit dense here, but I can't see where I would be able to confirm that Orion.Nodes.NodeID is related to Orion.Events.NetObjectID? I can't find it in the Schema or in the left pane of SWQL Studio... Same goes for your example with Orion.Nodes.NodeID and Cirrus.Nodes.CoreNodeID

I have a number of routers where IOSImage is for instance 'C2900-UNIVERSALK9-M' "show ver" will then tell me if it's licensed for "ip base" or "ip services" or whatever I have now filed a feature request: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2681

It's not possible (from what I can see) to enable snmp on the lightweight/thin APs. At least not the AIR-LAP1142N or the AIR-CAP3602I that we are using. It would be great if you would retrieve more info from the Controller about each AP, like CDP, Serial number, uptime etc Also, based on the ip address, it should be…

I guess a "d'oh" is in place And a thank you, of course!
-
I'll look forward to the release of 7.2, and then I'll just have to wait until the people in charge of our NCM installation do an upgrade. Thank you for the answer.
-
I probably should have mentioned that I prefer swql, so I can easily add it to the Config Summary page.

I made a setup using your hint and a few other tips, so I had a handful of mails in my inbox this morning from one of my switches. Thank you for sending me in the right direction.
