You are loading a lot of data! You'd be better looking at a smaller time frame and if you really need to know who downloaded what 7 days ago, maybe just open up a NTA page just for that 24 hour period. Rollups will make the data load faster as will a faster server where the database is located.

Yup all you need to do is go into Configs and select Configuration Management. Select the device and click on Compare node configs. Select Compare node configs. This will open up a new window where you can select the 2 configs you wish to compare.

Could you not just delete those IP addresses out of your range? Select the IP addresses and press delete.

Check out this page http://www.solarwinds.com/network-performance-monitor/resources.aspx and scroll down to Product FAQ. It states what I've listed below so in your example yes you would be using 50 elements but you are actually monitoring 25 servers, 50 interfaces and 50 volumes. Q: How is SolarWinds Network Performance…

I haven't used Cisco WAAS for a long time. If you can backup the configurations in NCM and the WAAS device sends out a syslog when the configuration has changed, then RTCD should work for you.

When you go into the problem node's 'List Resources', are the layer 2 and layer 3 options ticked?
-
What sort of device is it?
-
Sorry I don't really follow what you are trying to ask. Alerts are different from events. Even though you may see events, you may not have any alerts triggered. Can you please explain it a bit further, maybe some screenshots?
-
Just thought I'd close this topic. I ended up removing the groups in NCM so now all the nodes were in alphabetical order and easy to find.
-
Can anyone help? Or is there no way to sort the list?
-
No, it can't be done via the backup job. You'd need to create a new job that issues a "copy running-config startup-config" to all devices.
-
I use this on my maps (someone else created it and posted this a while ago, can't remember who though). The stats update as the maps refresh. I'm not sure what you are asking in your second question.
-
Please provide some more info. Are you saying the backup of the NCM database stops or the job backing up all the configs stops.

Was just doing today's mission question when I noticed this in the demo (https://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/SummaryView.aspx?netobject=&ViewID=491) Someone needs to tell whoever set the page up that there's a wonderful new feature called Orion Maps!

Just open the config up in NCM. Once you see the config on your screen, copy it all and paste it into notepad. Make sense? If you want to get a copy of the config on your own machine, you'll need to run a TFTP server on your computer (Solarwinds have a free TFTP server) and then download the config from the device to your…

When you are in NPM, have you confirmed that you are logging in with your domain account? It shows you current logged in user in the top right hand corner. It should show as domain\useraccount. And just double check your account in Manage Accounts that it is configured as an Account Type of Windows.

This is what I found a few years ago. And I'm still using the syslog solution as there's nothing as quick as it available. BGP Neighbour alerts. And I just look for BGP-5-ADJCHANGE messages and forward them to the network team. Everything else in the Alert/Filter Rules section in Syslog Viewer is set to default (other than…

I've just checked a number of my trunk links on my Cisco switches and all show the information you are requesting. So it should just work by default. What version of NPM are you using? And how is your trunk link configured.
-
You can do this with NCM. Download the running configs you want to compare. Then just select the ones you want to compare and right click and select "Compare Selected Configs"
-
You are running this file on the actual server right? Might be easier just to run "Solarwinds NCM Diagnostics" on your NPM/NCM server by going to Start, All Programs, Solarwinds Network Configuration Manager, and then selecting Solarwinds NCM Diagnostics.
-
Is there any update on the issue? Are all the switches that hang the same type and same IOS?
-
You can create a rule on the syslog servers that "Log the Message to a file" or "Forwards the Syslog Message". Either one of these 2 options should help you in your goal.

If you are talking about just a page view in Solarwinds, you can do the following. First add a common unique word to all the interface descriptions you are interested in seeing on the view Then create a Summary view page. Add in 'Percent Utilization of All Interfaces" into your view. Open up the Page and click the Edit…
-
What does it display in the Current Percent Utilization of Each Interface window?
-
I don't think the alerts will be on the exact same time when you include the seconds field. So first alert is 10:52:05 and the next is 10:52:15 etc. An interface goes into warning when a ping doesn't get through. Is this interface particularly busy? Or does Solarwinds go through a "slow" path to get to this interface?
-
Are all your services up and running? Have you tried rebooting your Solarwinds server?
-
Try just downloading the installer for VNQM 4.4.1 and run that. If still no luck, then remove VNQM 4.4 and run the installer again. I had a similar problem with the new installer and VMan version 7. I had to remove VMan first and then the new installer would run ok.
-
Why do you just create an alert for this? That way they get an email alerting them to the issue rather than having to look at a screen. And if you have netflow, you can include a link in the email straight to the interface in netflow so that you can see who's causing all the traffic.
