Most of the questions were general network questions are than being based on Solarwinds itself. Goodluck!

Is alerting on syslogs or traps an option for you?
-
I would love to be able to copy a view and have it include the tabs associated with that view. There's nothing more annoying than having to create the tabs each time I copy an old view. Re: Copy A View Tab?
-
I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you looking for a way to show what is currently down?
-
No these can't be changed but you can remove some options by changing the options to No the following on the user's settings.
-
Your report should work fine. I tried it on my Orion setup and it worked fine. I selected the default report Availability - Last Month in Report Writer. I then changed the Time Frame to Specific Time Frame starting 17/07/2012 and ending 17/08/2012 and ran the report. All my devices showed up in July 2012 and August 2012.…

We use an email to SMS alerting services. So we just send an email to a particular address and the receiver converts it into a SMS for the particular mobile number. You could check with your ISP if they offer this solution.
-
In the Connection Profile, change the Enable Level option to <No Enable Login>. That should do the trick for you.
-
This is only a small giveaway but what about a phone fan? Or even a desk USB fan. And more funky socks. I love my Solarwinds socks and you can never have too many socks I say.

I assume you've got this problem since upgrading to NPM 10.4? If so, there are a few threads on this issue. This one http://thwack.solarwinds.com/thread/52904 has the most information on it.
-
Just like you would add in any other device. Go into manage nodes and select Add New. Then put in the ip address and SNMP details etc and add it in.
-
This has now been resolved Original settings are Change these to
-
Absolutely! When you create the users for the various sites, just give them only access to the devices you want them to see. Go to Manage Accounts and select the user you wish to Edit. Then scroll down to the Account Limitation section and click on Add Limitation. This will give you a huge list of Limitations. You can…

The Layer 2 Cisco switches don't support Netflow and others such as the 3750 don't support it either. If you want Netflow from a non-netflow device, you'd need to span off the traffic to a port on a netflow capable switch. This site contains a list of the Cisco netflow capable devices.…

I've just completed the upgrade to NPM 12.1 (from 11.0.1) and from 12.0.1 I started getting memory issues every morning around 8:30am. Memory utilisation would spike up to 30Gb (usually around 9Gb) and the system would become unresponsive. It was Solarwinds Information Service V3 that was using all the memory. I'd been…

The interface details are polled by SNMP so test your SNMP settings to these devices. If SNMP can get to the device correctly, then they won't show as Unknown.
-
You just need to add the device to NCM. You do this by going to Settings, NCM Settings, 'Add or Manage Nodes'. The find the device, select it and click on 'Add Nodes to NCM'.
-
If the new device's trap matches the trigger and alert conditions of the alert for the original device, then it would just follow wherever the trigger threshold is at.
-
When selecting a node, in that particular view you can add in the "Active Alers on This Node" resource. Or the "Node Releated 25 Syslog Messages".
-
Make sure that you are monitoring the device in Solarwinds using the same IP address as what's on the interface you've configured in "logging source-interface". If they don't match, RTCD won't know which device it is.
-
Sorry this might be obvious but is the poller enabled?
-
NCM doesn't do any checks on devices, it's used for config management. NPM does the checks so adding in NCM into your environment would have no bearing on these power failures. There has been some bugs in the past where NPM was reporting faulty sensor or power when there in fact was no issue. This was due to a Cisco bug.…
-
How are you currently checking all the devices? There should be a way to filter on a device name.
-
I just tested this and found the same results. Not sure why. Check with support.
-
rajasekar are you still having issues with this?
-
If you add the resource Last XX Syslog Messages to your home page, you could add in a Filter that would just show up the syslogs you are interested in. Then change the title from Last XX Syslog Messages to something more appropriate. But the Syslog Viewer emails should be instantly provided the SMTP server and email…

The category information you're looking for is not provided by netflow. It's just provided by NPM. To see netflow stats, you need to look in the netflow tab. Do any of the other interfaces show any statistics? Can you see interface statistics for other devices? It looks like SNMP is not working correctly on this device.
-
It certainly sounds like a permissioning issue. Have you compared the users in question to see what rights they have?
-
Can you please post an image of what's in your Select Fields tab of the Report Designer? It sounds like for all the other Min, Max and Average you haven't set a function. See image below. If I remove the MAX function from the Recv Percent Utilization then I get the same error as you do.

You could use the builtin NCM report called "Backup Status of Startup Config. Then export it to Excel and sort on the Last Startup Backup column. But the above solution would probably work easier.
