It's done the same as this sample map in SAM along with custom labels which contain variables. That's the beauty about Network Atlas, it's super flexible. If you are monitoring it, you can display it in map format.

I emailed 2 maps to Kristin both of the same devices and links. One was in Atlas the other Orion Maps. Orion Maps can get cluttered very quickly in a small space as nato has indicated. Here's a small snippet. Custom labels in Atlas, I can also choose to have custom labels/description for the links which I can move around…

Sorry that I missed the bit about virtual servers. Glad you got it sorted!

Yes tick that box on, that way it will use the security you use for NPM. If NPM uses local accounts, then domain\usersaccount won't work. Once you tick that box on, then you'll be able to log into the Configs tab provided the current logged in user has been given access to the NCM section.

Are you an admin in Solarwinds?
-
I just tried Execute Command Script using 'Show Version' as the script and I picked three devices. The results showed up in a single tab for the 3 devices and the tab is labelled Results and there's a button called Save Results which saves it as a text file. Isn't that what you're looking for?

Are you running the SNMPWALK from the Solarwinds server itself?
-
Are you monitoring the ASA via the CLI configuration?
-
Yes Advanced Alert Manager can send alerts as SNMP or syslog traps.
-
There's no retention on Alerts as Alerts need to be actioned. An alert is finished when the conditions on the Reset Conditions tab are met. Until then they will stay. So if you delete an alert that hasn't met the Reset Conditions, it will just alert again.

You could change the polling time down to 10 seconds. Do you see any packet loss being recorded on the 'Network Latency and Packet Loss' graph?
-
You'll need to work backwards and see when the user can unmanage a node. Even try creating a new account from scratch and see if it works for them. Maybe the user in question belongs to more than 1 group. First disable the group(s) and then play around with the user's settings till you get it working. I tested a user with…

Can the user still not unmanage the node even when they use the same machine on which the other person can do it?
-
Yes you can't copy a map. But you can copy the contents from one map to another. I just highlight everything in one map and paste it into a new map. Then I just update each node.
-
You should get that fixed and consider upgrading to a later version. I believe your version is no longer supported.
-
Your time is set correctly. It will ignore what happens between 3am and 3:30am.
-
You could do the report and then embed it in the view.
-
Sorry you are right and that option will only copy a config if it has changed. сергей wrote: Hi, I think when you put mark on this option, Orion won't download config from device, until changes come to your device. But it is about downloading config from device to Orion. I want to know if Orion saves config on a device…

When you do the backup of the configs, you can get it to send you a report in an email. In it you can see which ones were successful and not successful. You can also click on the "not backed up" bit in the pie chart and it will take you to a page called "Overall Devices Backed Up vs. Not Backed up.
-
Yeah I agree. It now relies way more on Solarwinds knowledge rather than just generic network knowledge. Even though I passed, I struggled with some questions as I don't have/use all the available modules.
-
I agree with rharland but why would you want to backup your configs every hour? If you are worried that changes are being made, then just set up real time change detection. That way everytime someone makes a change, the config is automatically backed up. I back up my configs once a week and use real time change detection.
-
I'm not sure of NPM versions requiring that but some nodes may go "unknown" instead of down. For all my Cisco devices I just use "down". For servers and applications you could use "not equal to up". Using the "not equal to up" option, you should always get a down email.

atkinsd wrote: Steven and Superfly, Do you have to have a TFTP setting configured on Solarwinds to complete this process? I am guessing there is not a combo SSH/Telnet profile option? Thank you. Dwane Just noticed this question, yes I've installed Solarwinds TFTP server on my Solarwinds server. If you go into Settings, NCM…

wesleykparker provided the following SQL code (in another thread) to replace the syslog widget. Thought it would be good to have here as well. SELECT TOP 100 -- Edit this number for how many messages you want to load to widget (you can modify the widget for how many messages to page) let.Name AS [Message Type] ,Level AS…

You are a legend!! That's exactly what I needed. I still can't see it though on "insert variable" but either way it works. Thanks for the reply.

Solarwinds are currently working on implementing the following New Import/Export Process - An improved import/export process that will allow you to maintain subnet structures and hierarchy. Whether you're using this tool to upgrade your environment, migrate to another instance, or purely for reporting/auditing purposes, we…

No it won't if you just configure it to send an email (which is all I do). I can't check the Syslog Viewer options right now but there may be one that does an active alert. The main reason I use syslog for the alerting is that it is instant. Using an alert, there is a time delay so flapping links don't get detected. Here…

Here's the info on ZOC ZOC - SSH Client (Secure Shell) and Telnet Client for Windows and Mac OS X I started using ZOc when I joined our national team because that's what they were using. I was happy to keep using SecureCRT but my version was pretty old and they didn't want to pay to upgrade it. I believe they both do the…

Most likely it could be but you'll need to know the correct community string for it. I'm assuming that all the devices where Solarwinds recognised the make/model are using a RO community string of public (which is usually the default string). Once you know what community string the devices use where Solarwinds could not…
