  • Hello. I assume it has to do with custom properties of IPAM now being general properties of Orion. I've found a workaround for you though. Go to "Manage custom properties" select your IP address there and double-click on the property field you want to change/apply. ding might be able to have a look to confirm whether this…
  • Make sure to include the domain name in the user field if applicable like "user name: DC1\pcurtday"
  • I'd say software defined networking / Cisco's DNA Center won't work with IPAM as we need a traditional device/server that acts as the DHCP. Here are the requirements: Success Center Best regards, Steffen
  • Hello. Could you check please what "pollers" were assigned to those devices? Maybe your VM were assigned a Cisco poller or a custom one. Go to All Settings -> Manage Pollers Since I am using a custom poller to pull data from my Palo Alto firewall it shows me the additional icon "Pollers" in the Management widget. Best…
  • Hello. Using baselines to keep an eye on changes to the configuration is still a working feature of the latest NCM version. Here is an example from my lab where I promoted one config to be the baseline. The system found and displayed it correctly that there is a mismatch in the config lines and hence my widget "baseline vs…
  • Hi Marcus, Nothing changed within the last 30 days. The latest minor version update was in January: https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/Success_Center/ARM/Content/Release_Notes/ARM_2019-4_release_notes.htm With the service release 2019.4.2 the following issues were fixed: Release Date: January 16, 2020 • Problems with…
  • Hello. For sounds to be played you would need to install another small piece of software called Desktop Notification Tool. Have a look here on how to to enable that to work with your Orion alerts: Success Center Best regards, Steffen
  • Hello. I would go with assigning NCM roles (like "WebDownloader or viewer") to your Orion users: Success Center I'd also advice to enable the real time change detection in case some one is using SSH outside of Orion and NCM in order to directly log into a device entering commands: Real-time change detection Best regards,…
  • Hello. When you run a scenario where you add 10 VM under cpu usage you would see what would happen "simulated utilisation". When you look at the available virtual capacity it would already factor in the 10 new VM and it would tell you how many more VM you could add. See: Run scenarios with Capacity Planning - SolarWinds…
  • Hello. Can you monitor your servers via agent/WMI/SNMP aka does your credentials work there and are the required ports open? If so, what app template did you assign and is just this one not working or does it affect all nodes (servers) and all templates? Cheerio, Steffen
  • Good answer from Nux. The advantage of using AD instead of ICMP/SNMP scan according to SolarWInds is: "You can query your Active Directory Domain Controller to add nodes quickly and efficiently. Your Orion server can use the devices specified in Active Directory instead of scanning every IP address in the subnet." as…
  • Hello. NCM is designed to be used with network devices (and not for backing up Windows/Linux files) and thus supports the following file extensions: NCM Archive: .Config SolarWinds Cisco Config Downloader: .CiscoConfig Text File: .txt Configuration File: .cfg Any file in ASCII text Best regards, Steffen
  • Hello. Do you have the checkbox ticked for "SIP trunk polling"? Adding Cisco CallManager devices to VoIP and Network Quality Manager - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support Best regards, Steffen
  • Hi Alan. There is nothing stopping you to install ARM on the Orion Server (VM). This is not recommended though - fighting for resources and availability might be a concern. ARM would use an own database, so you cannot use the one that you have for NPM. LEM would require its own VM. Best regards, Steffen
  • Hello. I would have a look of this example config here: Extreme sFlow configuration - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support Then check whether you are actually receiving Flow data on your Orion Server using Wireshark: Verify Netflow traffic is received in NTA port 2055 - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support…
  • serena would you have an estimate what a SAM1k would require? My best guess is 1 Orion + 2 APE hardware, so 12 cpu cores and 64gb ram
  • Hi Suman, Everything you need is on this page: SAM 6.9.1 System Requirements When you want to monitor Windows OS Servers you might need to use WMI or agents instead of relying on SNMP. For monitoring your vCenter you'll need to have a valid user + pw (credentials) to get information from it via VMware's API, see Monitor…
  • Hello. That info is coming from the Windows OS itself via WMI so I'm assuming the registry entry is wrong: Troubleshoot asset inventory issues
  • Hello. Adding to the info provided by hpstech. When you are using SAM and its AppInsight for Active Directory by default it checks for newly created users. Maybe there is a similar event for adding users to a domain; if so you could add this component to the template / or create a new one. Best regards, Steffen
  • Hello Justin, Take a look at this architecture guide, especially the part for centralised deployment either with or without additional polling engines: https://www.solarwinds.com/-/media/solarwinds/swdcv2/licensed-products/orion-scalability-engines/resources/whitepapers/o… Best regards, Steffen
