If that means I get to be in Ireland, deal! I am still waiting to visit the Emerald Isle.

Thanks!

Thanks for doing this again this year adatole

I never had the 2e, but I did have the Commodore VIC-20, and yeah, it seems faster than my phone today.

Thanks for the comment and the link! Yes, I'm fascinated by security flaws as well. Mostly because I tend to believe that someone already knew about them but chose not to say anything.

Pork, brats, and chicken skewers. It was glorious.

If you can't recover, you can't keep your job.

They've been caught before on stuff, this is the first time I've ever seen Apple show compassion as a company. Remember the time Steve Jobs talked down to everyone and told us to not use the iPhone 4 in our left hand, or to buy a case: Steve Jobs to Lefties: Hold the iPhone 4 differently or buy a case | Sample the Web…

DBAs are rarely responsible for the quality of data, that is typically a responsibility of the person in charge of the ETL process, or the application designer. Sometimes those are all the same person with the title of DBA, that's true. Recovery helps data quality, like you said, to recover from bad/stupid things. Recovery…

Is that a fact?

If you feel AppInsight is too heavy for your needs, you may want to try DPA and see how well it works for your environment.

Sorry about WSJ asking to subscribe. I don't include articles behind a wall if I can help it. I don't subscribe and I seem to have access...maybe I did subscribe at some point?

YES!!! It is 'Rescue Green', and Jeep stopped the color back in 2008-ish. It took me over a year to find one. I've never enjoyed a vehicle so much.

What would that data be used for? It's trivia, so the answers are known. I'm not sure I understand what is being trained. That being said, I'm certain the data is being collected, but probably as a way of understanding how best to get people to click on an ad.

It's only recent that they started using lowercase: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2016/04/11/natl-weather-service-stops-shouting-use-lower-case-forecasts/82914206/

Yeah, like the Madden Cruiser.

I think that depends on the task, mostly, and the risk involved should something fail. I was a big fan of scripting a lot of things, but some things I wanted to do manually. For example, I wanted to automate our backups and index rebuilds, but I would want to manually run a restore script.

BTW, the SQL on Linux went public today with CTP1 of SQL Server v.Next: Technet Evaluation Center

Welcome!

Thanks!

Thanks, but I'm not sure I want the liability of the entire Internet. Could I just win a few Bitcoins instead?

I want to like this comment a dozen times.

I rarely use Cortana or Siri. I have Alexa, but still haven't figured out how to integrate it in my life beyond music, timers, and asking funny questions.

I started as a developer and transitioned to DBA. I found myself drifting back to development as I built and maintained our own homegrown monitoring/alerting solution. Eventually I realized it was worth the money to buy tools. The biggest benefit to having 3rd party tools was the fact that I could blame the vendor tools…

They fought hard but in the end, the other team barely edged them out by a score of 72-53.

*sigh* "I will not argue on the internet. I will not argue on the internet. I will not argue on the internet..." (calm voice) The data suggests otherwise. But data doesn't matter. Haters are going to hate, regardless of the data.

I've no doubt age discrimination exists, but the idea that Facebook would actively help promote such a practice is unacceptable.

Thanks! I like to bring the data when I can.

I can't even share the same grid as the next town, let alone the entire planet.

Thanks...I think?
