Denny, Would it be possible to use the feature request tracker to track these unknown device requests. It would be great to know when updates make it into the .mib. That would also allow us to test and see if the problem is fixed. Thanks

I also found that a SWIS variable MUST has a space following it. I was trying to use the hostname as a filename but found no way to use a variable without the required space. No quotes, nothing. I also would like a variable that gives the name of the user used to login. Since I can't test for prompts in CCT, I need this to…

I have a device that is miscategorized at Juniper 1.3.6.1.4.1.26543.1.18.4 BNT 1/10G Uplink Ethernet Switch Module This used to be Nortel but is now Blade Network Technologies.

OK, I see that it appears as a logical "AND", which is what I want. What I'm trying to do is get one rule that detects traffic sourced and destined on-net. That works. The other rule needs to show all OTHER HTTP traffic. That doesn't seem to work right, as there is an UNMANGAGED port 80 that shows a ton of traffic. I'm…

Michael: I agree. It would be useful to see devices with unknown status. I'd also like to see an event message if the SNMP community that used to work has quit( pings but SNMP now fails).

Regarding Juniper Interfaces. Juniper has physical interfaces, and logical interfaces. When you define an interface, you assign it to a unit, which is the number after the decimal, i.e. ge-0/0/0.0 For layer 2 you assign unit 0 to the family ethernet-switching, and with IP to Inet. So every interface on a Juniper has a…

Bump!

I had the exact same problem. They said it was due to running two scans concurrently. Anyway, they said you can't delete the duplicate from the GUI. You must do a delete from SQL.

Poor man's Concord?

Subnet AND Supernet searching ABSOLUTELY. We add descriptions to both. I would like a QUICK way to search subnets/supernets by IP address (within subnet) or description.
-
So has anyone got the new discovered nodes interface import wizard working? It appears that the wizard only works on the first one or two nodes. Maybe I just haven't spent enough time making it work, but I avoid it by selecting the interfaces from the found node screen, and that seems to bypass the interface dialog. It…

How bout supporting more wireless vendors? I'm still waiting for Juniper/Trapeze. -=Dan=-

One of my main gripes with topology is that is assumes you are managing all the interfaces. We only monitor uplink interfaces, an often some get missed since NPM has no way to import uplinks in an automated way. (Suggested adding ports with more than one MAC address). If the interface isn't monitored, its missing from…

Maybe I was not clear. When you click the subnet in the navigation panel on the left, the broadcast IPs and IPs that don't have a DHCP scope associated ARE NOT LISTED. See the video I posted.

Turns out that the problem was that I moved the NPM database to a new SQL Server, without running Configuration tool on the NCM server. The migration docs really didn't cover this new setup since NCM 7.0. I ended up doing a NPM 10.3.1/NCM 7.1 upgrade, since I was putting this off. By the way, the order is: Shutdown…

Is see that polling doesn't update. Why wouldn't this device get polled? I tried removing the node and re-adding. Didn't change it.

I've been working on cleaning up our IPAM. I have currently over 16000 IPs in it, so its a big job. 1. We will often take a /24 subnet, and break it into a /25 plus some /27 subnets. We usually see this when they delete the old subnet and add the new one. The old subnet will have a grey icon when deleted. When you delete…

+1 Also, we need to be able to specify a list of allowed values for a custom property using a pulldown element.
-
I would still like IPAM to be integrated with NPM, and not just run in the same GUI. The NodeID of NPM nodes should be IPAM and the data in sync.

While i understand that Cisco has a large market share, Juniper has made significant inroads to enterprise networks. With OEM agreements with Dell and IBM, you can predict this increasing. While we have almost 1000 cisco routers, we chose to bypass Cisco Nexus and rebuild our data centers with Juniper gear. I'd like to see…

Chris, I'm trying to build applications for my traffic. Examples include Exchange, which often is between two high ports, so I need to filter on destination or source of my Exchange servers. O can't seem to build applications with multiple expressions. I want to categorize http traffic on-net from that offnet. So I want to…

I would like to see the keyboard keys enabled for moving subnets. Up and down arrows move as expected. Page up and down to top or bottom of currently viewable items, or the next page of items up or down. Home/End to top or bottom of list. An "expand all' and "collapse all" would also be helpful.

Be sure to enable management/SNMP on the port accessible by your NPM. Often it's easiest to mange the "Management" interface. Be sure to setup you communities and allowed IPs (0.0.0.0/0)
-
While the physical IP is not accessible when in passive, the Virtual IP is pingable. I manage the two management IPs, and the Virtual IP.
-
Gary, Is there a "fix" for interfaces with high discards, or do you just see which interaces are being overrun? I've googled about using layer 2 flow control, but this appears to be abandoned technology in a layer 3 world.
-
Oh, Fixes could be: 1. Allow subnets to be moved from the right pane to the left pane 2. Allow more than 150 subnets to be displayed on left pane Wishlist Allow moving MORE than 1 subnet at a time.

Michal, I've been testing the new custom attribute feature. I really like it. I noticed that the tool for selecting nodes looks very much like the Groups selection forms. That make me think that it would be very powerful to be able to apply custom attributes to the existing Groups feature. What makes this better is that…

I'd like to be able to check the box on an IP in IPAM subnet details, and create a managed node in Orion NPM. IPAM works like a discovery tool, so this would be a nice addition.
