I'm not specifically seeing this issue, but I am seeing something odd on one of my reports. They appear to be running an hour behind. In other words, all servers are in UTC but when I read the reports, the most recent database updates appear to be timestamped one hour before (based on the value of the column…

I'm not sure how up you are on how to physically implement the two kinds of sensors for QoE. That might be a good place for you to start, as it'll define part of the 'where'. Have a look at this thread: NPM 11.0 Release Candidate Now Available! It goes into detail about how QoE Packet Analysis Sensors (PAS) work, what the…

Hi kyeap89! First thing to do would be to BACKUP YOUR ORION DATABASE! Once you've done that, you have a good place to go back to, should any of the following steps cause problems. After you have the backup, open the SolarWinds Licensing Manager, and check everything looks good there. I've seen issues like the one you…

Downtime is unfortunately inevitable. Even with FoE, when it comes to an upgrade there's always downtime. The only way to eliminate it is to have a DR instance, but that would mean double the licensing costs AND you'll always have the ballache when it comes to separate databases, meaning there's not contiguous data in a…

Could you clarify if you've added that resource to the default asset inventory view (or one of the sub-views attached to the Node Details). Looking at my system, I don't see that resource, and it's also not present on the Orion demo Node Details view. By default you will see the warranty status of each server node under…

Hi jimmyjimjim, This isn't possible, currently. What I recommend is you consider using SolarWinds Alert Central as a go between. It's free, and will give you the functionality you need, as well as plenty of other really useful features *** With Alert Central no longer supported, Pingdom is now the closest relevant…

First things to check: * You have a valid license, you can check this by running the license manager (it'll be in the SolarWinds start menu folder). * Confirm that all your SolarWinds services are running, you can check this by running the Orion Service Manager (again it'll be in the SolarWinds start menu folder) * IF both…

In addition to clubjuggle suggestions, once you're in the SolarWinds License Manager, tick the boxes next to your products and click ''Synchronise' from the options to the right. This should re-sync your install with the activation servers. Generally speaking though, if your licenses are activated in the Customer Portal,…

With reports, if you use the scheduler to send them via email as PDF's, they are view only by nature and the recipient will only be able to view what is in the report itself. If the report is published to the web console, the users who have permissions to view that report would be able to click on any of the nodes listed…

To the best of my knowledge, you can't get the interface operation type from SNMP. For that, you'd need to have a copy of the switch configs, and for that you'll be needing Network Configuration Manager (if you're looking to automate the entire process). Once the configs have been backed up using NCM, you should be able to…

Hey, in this thread cvachovecj explained that there isn't an official list of supported devices, and that generally if your devices have CLI support, NCM can manage them. Best way to check is to register for and download the NCM trial and take a look!
-
Go to edit node, and change 'Manage node(s) with NCM' to 'NO'. Submit the change, then go back in and change it back to 'YES'. See if this works for one of your other problem nodes. I can't imagine you'd need to completely remove it, as you'll loose all monitoring history (if you have any other Orion modules), and that's a…

My hot take on this is that because the ultimate program running behind any given svchost.exe process can change depending on how each service which is running underneath it is loaded in from the registry, the scripting that generates the association breaks. That said, I haven't seen the nuts and bolts of how this works,…

Cheers for that link neomatrix1217 superfly99, if you do create that FR, or find one that's already submitted which covers it, link it here so people can see the relevance and vote it up

I don't believe there is, at least not with the existing resources. Looking at the database it's memory used as a flat value, or percentage of memory used against what is installed. Those are your only options at the moment With NPM anyway.

There is a couple of ways that SolarWinds can't help, but not with NPM on it's own. If you're looking at network quality, then take a look at SolarWinds at VoIP and Network Quality Manager with this product you can setup IPSLA operations between your sites to specifically warn on issues with your WAN. You could also use…

UDP 137 is likely to be NetBIOS lookups, and TCP 135 is likely Microsoft EPMAP (End Point Mapper). Both fairly safe.

Hey mate. Check you have all the correct ports open between your primary poller and the VMAN. Check this link for details I suspect there's one or two missing.
-
Unless you specifically want to setup some kind of advanced alert which notifies you of an issue with the monitored nodes, once they're in SolarWInds and being polled via ICMP/SNMP then you should be good. You'll see all the information on your NOC view(s), Setting up specific traps shouldn't be necessary, unless you have…

If you device has multiple IP addresses assigned to it, it's possible NPM already knows about them. To check, go to the Node Details page for the switch, and look for the 'All IP Addresses on $(Caption)' resource (if it's not listed, add it to the default node details page temporarily to view it). If NPM is aware of the…

What aspect of the alerts are you trying to modify?

I treat CPs in two ways: * As a funnel... start with the CPs that split your estate into sensible, logical, chunks, then work down to the specifics. Good CP use is key to getting the most out of Orion, as they are used everywhere! * For specific reporting purposes. For example, if you want to be able to report on all the…

Hey HerrDoktor If you haven't already, have a nose at the SWI GitHub library. There's a wealth of in there, which should help you find the information you seek
-
Hey knobby There's a number of things that could cause SWIS to have a problem. My advice would be: * Collect diagnostics from the APE having an issue. If you haven't done it before, this Success Center article explains the process. * Log a support ticket via your Customer Portal. If the support rep requests logs, you've…

One way to do it, would be to combine the timing of the execution of the NCM change, with a timed alert. For instance, if you decided to make these NCM changes between 01:00 and 02:00 in the morning, you could setup a new alert, which looks for nodes going down or interfaces going down, during these times ONLY, and then…

Take a look at using node groups in NCM. You could assign all your Cisco devices to a group, setup a job to download them from just this node group, and use the SDK to script the firing of that job whenever you wish.

Hi mrkeeny Could you share where you got this template from? It doesn't appear on the default template list. If it was from THWACK, share the link to the thread, and I'll take a look at what it's doing.
-
Great question, kindbro! I would also like ot know why this doesn't seem to work as intended. Like you, I have ensured all my NCM nodes have been baselined, I have both startup and running configs being backed up every day, but the resource stubbornly refuses to show anything other than 'unknown' for all devices! Perhaps…

Take a look at this link: Create a NOC view There is also a video that shows how this is done. If you need any further guidance, send me a PM and I'll give you a hand
