Are you running all operations with local admin rights? It's a little odd that the add/remove programs is missing both SRM and toolset installs. Perhaps there's something wonky in the registry? If so, you may be looking at a server rebuild to resolve these issues. Either way, I recommend that you raise a call with support…

How about a name for such an awesome tool: SolarWinds Synapse! I called it
-
No problem. Maybe try opening a ticket with support, they may have a fix for this which isn't on the Success Centre! Incidentally, if you hit the 'save as PDF' option at the top of the report, when viewing the report in Orion, does the file get created?
-
Quite so. The passwords are encrypted for a reason: to stop exactly what we're trying to achieve in this discussion. My recommendation is to use a 3rd party tool, like KeePass, to store your passwords and have your IT manager put a policy in place stipulating that all passwords must be recorded in said tool.

No problem at all andeporter By all means post your rule, even if it's not something I can use myself, it's possible some other Thwacker may find it useful!

It depends on the individual sensor. The warning threshold would be when the sensor is shown as yellow, and the critical threshold is when the sensor is shown as 'RED'.

Since you have the toolset graph, and the NPM graph, you could compute how far out the two are, and perhaps use a multiplier that gets the NPM graph up to the results shown in the toolset. For me, it's a bit of a bodge, because if you use the same multiplier on any given graph, it may well be widely inaccurate, even though…
-
No problem, at least I helped with one small part of the issue. The problem with a multiplier is that it'll be no good in the real world, as you can see from the accurate data from the toolset polls, peaks happen!

You should be able to use the SQL code as the basis of a SQL based alert, aye.
-
It could be that the sites running on Server A are gobbling up processes that the Orion website needs exclusive access too. It's best practice to deploy NPM on it's own server, for exactly this reason. What I would do, since this is a somewhat unusual problem, is log a support ticket with SolarWinds via your Customer…

You are more than welcome murogive. I do enjoy a challenging question
-
What version of NPM are you running? One thing which comes to mind is that you may be having issues getting SNMP responses back from your target nodes, and hence no data to generate alerts/events from, but you're not aware of it due to NPM calculating availability from ICMP responses. You can run a report to find out if…

Ok, it wasn't clear what you were showing in those pictures If you have set a custom threshold for the device, it should be treated differently within the top x resources. When you look at the node properties view for that device, is the CPU usage gauge showing the appropriate colour? In other words, if it's below 95%…

No worries mastranios. Always happy to help

From my perspective, now that there are Windows (and soon Linux) agents available, I use them when I can. The additional information you get on QoS from the server as part of the Agent is well worth it. That's my advice: Install the agent. It also buffers the monitoring data for when you reboot the polling engine(s), so…
-
I haven't, but my environments are generally controlled and not exposed to any traffic which could carry malware, viruses or any other nefarious packets, so AV protection has been seen as unnecessary. I don't think implementing the suggestions of an official SolarWinds KB article could hurt, but if you are concerned by the…

You are most welcome MathieuJM

No, you can name your tabs as you see fit See the example below: Whatever you call your tab. will be the title of the page when viewed. Remember though, you have to click the 'Update' button to the right when you've typed your required name for the change to stick!
-
Another thing that comes to mind: Does the user/credentials you're using to deploy the agent have admin rights on the servers you're deploying the agent to? As you're seeing the wizard end screen I assume so, but it's worth checking before you raise that support call.
-
Do you mean you're seeing many nodes which would already trigger the alert?
-
How many IP addresses are in the user defined group? Have you tried running the same search, but for just one of the listed IP addresses? If so, how is the performance? Does it actually complete and show the results?
-
Basically, since NPM 10.something (I forget which version exactly, one of the later revisions) this gave you the ability to change how SolarWinds tracks response time and up/down. WIth this option set to SNMP, it'll mark the node as down only if SNMP fails to get a response from the server and trace response time from the…

Likewise. I'd be interested to hear of someone has managed this, as the method would have other applications
-
Well then, if you've been working with the API since 2012, it could be that the verb you're looking for doesn't exist Let's hope some other Thwack members can help.
-
Maybe the Geolocation offered in 11.5 could help? See Rob's response in the following thread: NPM 11.5 - Automatic Geolocation on WolrdWide Maps You may be able to use this to show which node is hosting the IIS server which is hosting the website in question, effectively looking at it from a different perspective than just…

Do you have scheduled discoveries running? If so, then it could well be.
-
When using SolarWinds Fail Over Engine, you need to have all the modules on the primary server, and the same on the secondary, so if you're using FOE, your planned implementation will not work I'm afraid. To your questions: * It's not recommended to use the same database server for both NTA and the main Orion database.…
-
Do your clients have custom views? If so, is the same limitation applied to both the account and the view(s)? Whilst the account limitation should be enough, it never hurts to double up where the view is specific to an account.
-
No problem. Glad to assist

Now that you've installed SQL 2008 and moved the database, you'll need to run the configuration wizard and select the database option, then point the wizard to the new database server. Hopefully that will resolve the problem, since you've sorted out the database size limit. Note that you may need to check that the database…
