Hmm.. I'm not entirely sure if that is possible at the moment, you may have something there! Here's where you can post this as an official feature request: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/community/network-management_tht/orion-network-performance-monitor/orion-network-performance-monitor-feature-requests Post the link in…

The only way to do to this for a single server would be to duplicate the original alert, but specify the single server in question. If necessary you could add an exclusion to the group alert to ignore the server you have the one off alert for.

I took it that the server had three physical network adapters, and he's trying to force the OS to use one of them over the others for applications, it's possible that ordering might help. I don't have anything to hand to lab this up with, however. But if you want to be sure, then yeah, you'll need to use routing. That…

Glad you got it sorted mate!

For WMI, you need to ensure that you have access to a domain user account that will have access to the various namespaces on the target server. For testing on a single server, use a domain admin account to be absolutely sure your test will work (make sure you input the credentials when logged in to Orion directly on the…

Hey @"Solaiy" What is the alert for? Could you share the configuration here, I'll see if I can find a solution for you.

Does your Orion website have a bind to HTTP as well as HTTPS? If so, try the discovery over port vanilla http and see if that makes any difference. The error appears to be with the connection to the website over HTTPS (SSL socket itself), from the error text.

Take a look down the bottom of any page when you are viewing Orion, you'll see a string similar to this, which is taken from the Orion demo website: Orion Platform, WPM, IPAM, SRM, VNQM, SCM, NCM, NPM, DPAIM, PM, LA, NTA, VMAN, UDT, SAM: 2020.2 1999-2020 SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. All Rights Reserved. After 'Orion…

No problem smiffy85! Glad to help
-
No problem. Glad I could help! Standard edition should be fine, the database size should never get large enough to breach the Enterprise threshold

When you run the snmpwalk tool (it's in the SolarWinds program folder), once it has completed a 'walk' successfully it will ask you where to save the returned data. If you're not seeing that prompt, I expect your requests are timing out. The tool will tell you if this is the case.

Hey baneland. In addition to chad.every's sage advice, you may need to reference some of the Orion variables in your execution path. View the link below to lean how to get the most recent list out of your Orion installation: Check the available node variables that can be used in Orion - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help…

Thanks for the warning kellytice. I'll bear that in mind!

Hey aLTeReGo, All three machines (SQL host and the two SAM servers) are running on Server 2008 R2 Standard at the moment, on Hyper-V (Windows 10 Pro flavour). I've just nuked the Hyper-V role from my laptop, and downloaded a trial of VMware Workstation 12 Pro, see if the change in Hypervisor helps.

I guess your next avenue towards resolution is a support call with Cisco and perhaps a support ticket with SolarWinds. The gurus there should be able to advise if it's possible or not, and if so how you do it
-
My advice to clients is to look at it logically: How would you or your NOC want to consume the notifications? For example: * Are the ports you want to monitor pertaining to separate applications? Would these ports equally cause issues if they went down? If yes, then one Application Template per port to ensure you get…

Hmm, that's a bit odd. As you say, if the limitation isn't working, then perhaps it's the various resources that are not behaving as we expect. What I would do at this point, is submit a ticket with support. Create the diagnostics first to save you some time, as I expect that with this issue support will ask for them. I…

Ok. I hope that between my comments above, and Microsoft's help, you can get this resolved!
-
With a mammoth instance like yours, I can see how the element uplift would be a boon! Fingers crossed for you Mr B!
-
Ah, that's a shame lai. I thought it might have been too good to be true! I'm not sure what ports the tool uses. Perhaps aLTeReGo can help?

Create your own! Add in a custom table resource to your report (assuming you've got the web report writer), and then add in the columns you need.
-
Here's how you go about requesting that the MIB's are added: http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/963/Requesting+the+Addition+of+MIBs+to+the+SNMP+MIB+Browser+Database For now you'll have to add a custom poller I'm afraid
-
Looks like there's something deeper than a service or network issue going in here. As others have said, and since you've raised a ticket, I'd wait for the support team to get on it. To save some time, run SolarWinds Diagnostics from both nodes (IIRC you can do this on APEs as well as PPEs), so you have the information to…
-
It's likely a limitation of the view you have. If all you're seeing is a list of nodes in a tree or group structure, then you need to add in one of the other resources to your view to get the information you're looking for. For example, if you look at the SolarWInds demo site, find the name of the resource which you're…

No problem spifa, happy to help.

Download an eval version of Virtualization Manager and show it off to the bean counters. If you use VMware kit in production, it'll pay for itself in short order. As it's a virtual appliance, it doesn't even need a physical server or VM to run. Easy to trial, easy to nuke if you don't want it at the end of the trial To get…

Cheers johnny.
-
That's a bit odd. What modules are you running, and what versions?
-
Very odd. Can you get output from snmpwalk.exe (found on your pollers in the SolarWinds install directory) using the same SNMP string?
-
Try running a continuous ping from the poller to one of the polled IP addresses (ping whatever /t). If you have wonky connectivity between the poller and the polled device, you'll see missing pings in the output.
