No problem at all. Happy to help!

That would send you alerts on anything that was warning, critical OR unknown (i.e. when a device stops responding to SNMP). If you cue up your Operations team, it should ensure you'll get notified for any hardware sensor change (other than those with 'battery' in the name) from UP.

Have you thought about raising this with support via a ticket on the portal? They're always good, but sometimes you get people who really, really know the guts of the product, down to the developer level. They might be able to give you a solution. If you do go down that route, please keep us posted (or DM me if you feel…

By default, the online installers will put you at the bleeding edge for every Orion module in your estate. To use a specific version, you'll need to use the offline installer for the version you want to use. That said, use these with care, else you end up in version mismatch limbo If in doubt, contact Support for…

Ok, I got a lot further, but I cannot connect to Orion post the activation of the HA Pool. Here's what I have: * Three virtual machines within VMware Workstation 12 Pro, all identical virtual hardware assignments (1 vCPU, 2GB, single NIC on the 'host-only' network, using DHCP with 60 day life on the leases). * All VMs have…

Unfortunate... perhaps it's time to log a call with support. No doubt they'll be able to resolve pretty quickly. I would paste the link to this thread in your ticket, so they can see what has been suggested already, to expedite things even further. If you do, could you please post the resolution in this thread? I'd be very…

Cheers! Good to know the full implications of these indexes. Personally, I'll keep these on the back burner and only use them if regular DB maintenance isn't enough to keep the console fluid, given your info that it introduces potential issues with upgrades.

I believe what aLTeReGo said previously in this thread explains the bizarre behaviour. The OID you refer to contains information in a format which does not adhere to SNMP standards. As such the UnDP wizard, and Orion itself, cannot display the information in the "missing" MIB table field. I expect this was done…

That should work. The only issue I see is whether you actually need to alert on that value using the built-in options (equal to, greater than, etc). It'd be cumbersome to reset alert values to a new 'gold' date, if you were to do mass deployment of your code. If you are only interested in storing the data in Orion, and…

Ok, I'll let you know how I go. That'll teach me not to update my test VMs

If the problem devices are servers, it may be you have not yet installed the vendor management software, which expands the MIBs supported to include the hardware health. For example, for HP Servers, you will need to install the current version of HP SIM / System Management Agents.

Sorry cmccurry, should have read back on the thread I've come across issues with SNMP like this, and tried to use REGEX to overcome this, using the new poller option in the Orion consoles, but I can never get it to select the row I'm after. Particularly irritating when you have devices like Cisco, and you want the serial…

I didn't log a ticket for this in the end. Perhaps the OP did?

When the installation has failed, are there any entries in the VMs event logs which could indicate where the problem lies?
-
Just a thought, esther823, do you already have the IIS role installed on the server you are deploying the software on? If not, install it and try again. Also, make sure you run the installer as an Administrator. I think I mentioned this before, but it's always good to ensure you have the correct rights on the server…

Hmm.. could be the date format. Are the poller and SQL server configured with the same date/time settings? I'm a novice at SQL, so my skills are limited here. If all else fails, log a support call wit SolarWinds via the customer portal, add the URL to this thread to the body of the question so they can see what's been…

It might be worth dropping a ticket to support, to get the definitive answer quickly. From what I've tried it doesn't look possible to filter on custom properties, for this resource at least, but only support will know for sure. If you do drop them a line, could you pop the resolution/their reply in this ticket please…

Is the server which you're trying to monitor the IIS on also your SolarWinds server, or is it a remote server?
-
If you have access to the SQL server, you can see any errors from within SQL Management Studio (when connected to the SQL instance):

NPM 12 is an incredible upgrade! Everyone with valid maintenance agreements should get an RFC in and upgrade ASAP You'll add these tools to your arsenal: * NetPath * Switch stack poller * F5 load balancer support * ServiceNow integration * Oh, and the new UI (which is awesome) Well worth the downtime.

Glad you got it sorted blood!

Ok, what you need to do is change your 'user account' settings. By default, your default node view is set thus: If you change it to point to the 'Heart Beat' tab of you new view like this: (in my example my custom tab I want to see first is the 'events' tab) You will see that tab first when you go to your nodes:

No problem Matt, glad to be of assistance!
-
Not necessarily. If the alert is working correctly, it should only alert if the hardware sensor name does not include 'battery' in the name. You should only see potential triggers for hardware sensors which are anything other than batteries.

Hi chandran_tcs! It'll need a separate database instance, but as with all SolarWinds products you could just use SQL Express rather than going for a new full database license. Weigh up performance/scalability/reliability requirements in order to make your decision there With regards to sizing, it's impossible to make a…

No problem. The official SolarWinds database migration document is here, for reference: http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/orion/docs/OrionServerMigration.pdf

Unfortunately you will need to discover these new interfaces. However, you can use Network Sonar Discovery to schedule a daily discovery of the effected network segments, or one specific device, it's quite flexible. On larger networks I advise my clients to run a scheduled daily discovery, just to check if anything has…

Cheers @"tony.johnson"! I'll update my post above :)
