Thanks for the recap adatole! As always, I really enjoyed the retrospective writing in this year's challenge (emphasis on retro! ). The rest of week one's entries really made me think on this idea even more. The important thing, though, is that the answer to our question “What I would tell my younger self.” is a personal…

What an awesome piece of history your current office is, RT! I love that you have absolutely everything you need, and that you've McGuiver'ed what you need to make us usable, even recycling other people's rubbish and incorporating it into your build. Also, your new home looks incredible, I bet you can't wait! I'm had to…

Suitably branded, naturally!

I think the best SysAdmins will remain generalists. Ultra focused specialists have their place, but they are simply not as useful as someone who has had experience in multiple different fields over the course of their careers. Also, unless something fundamentally changes, we'll be spending more time being "remotely…

To reinforce @"KMSigma.SWI" 's point, these classrooms are included with your maintenance, and are an excellent way to help onboard yourself and your organisation to the SolarWinds Platform, so you can take the train to Successville! Thwack itself is an incredible resource, but if you need something a little more…

Here's an interesting one: I can get the script to run flawlessly, as long as I don't try to copy any custom properties. As soon as I add in CustomProp1 to the end of the list of properties (the section which starts at line 91 of the script) it errors. Cannot Resolve Property CustomProp1 I've had a look at the Nodes table,…

It's a tough one, especially if you're not familiar with F5 kit. I got there in the end, but I was wincing as a clicked the submit button!

Grats to the winners!

Great opening @"adatole"! For the denizens of Castle Marsh (family nickname for my home, while I am an Englishman, my home is not actually a castle!), 2020 has been a year of celebration and disappointment. On the plus side, it was my wife and I's 10th wedding anniversary, and her 40th birthday (we don't talk about the…

Don't forget a local source of good, strong, coffee!

Another great theme and another cracking Mission! Props to the community team, once again!
-
Should be an option available to all connection-based SAM templates.
-
Has to be Prime & Co for me. If it's NERF vs Transformers in the final, I think it'll be a coin toss.

Great themed prizes this month, and that star prize... Databases, specifically SQL, is something I'm digging in to more and more, so I'm looking forward to the informative hints, as I'll probably need them this month!

EMULATE! EMULATE!
-
Wow... the pressure for 20/20 this month will be immense

Tom has this in the bag. He's simply too sneaky not to win this battle!

Now this could be a game changer, for both new and old organisations, who need to get a real view of what hardware they have, and what is running on it. Coupled with the SolarWinds Service Desk CMDB, it gives businesses the power to have all their device information, and who uses said device, without the pain of having to…

WarGames again, surely!

I so wanted to leave that on 69, but I had to vote it up as it's a must. Same with most of the other vendors, hardware health packages should be an out of the box resource. We should only have to go down the UnDP route for very specific things. SWI need to do the leg work for most enterprise grade vendors as it increases…

I love these kind of things! It's great to see what other people come up with. For instance, I recently came across a problem when running a few scripts on some client fibre switches. One of them was causing the HULC process to hog all the memory. One of these scripts was a simple banner change. Of course, one of the techs…

Personally, I'm not surprised at all at the iPhone news. It's one of the reasons why I steer away from Apple products. The more popular the brand and device, the more attractive it'll be to ne'er-do-wells who want to have an easy life by selling people's data. On the PD & Ring: Anyone else see the parallels between the…

Argh..it's such a shame that this isn't the final, as both of these optimise what this bracket is all about! Going to vote for Tron again, as I think it's one of, if not the best computer-based sci-fi filme! IMHO ofc!

AWESOME! Now, what does my new-ish office need? Hmm.... :robotwink:
-
And there, I have my answer! Thanks jeff.stewart! Do these updates occur at service releases as well as major ones?
-
byrona, I feel your pain. When I first started providing reports to end users, management and so on, I received my fair share of criticism. This was mainly down to how I displayed the data. Over time I learned that I needed to display the data in a way that makes sense to the reader, and forget what I would want to see…

Myself, I prefer the KCI (Keyboard-Chair Interface) acronym to PEBKAC (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair). Due to it's three-letter length it's much easier to get in under the radar: i.e. "We believe the fault to be due to a KCI error with the script" Anyone have any other examples?

I use tracert a lot, I also use pathping often, to try to work out where in the hops (if tracert works) the latency is coming from.
-
Easy sign-up, this. While it's not THWACKcamp, SolarWinds Day is always informative, and as it's free, it's a no brainer! (calendar conflicts not withstanding ofc!)

Chiming in just to add more diagnostic info to the thread: Tried to connect to using Internet Explore version 11.0.9600.17801 and Chrome version 43.0.2357.81 m. The access URL for the demo which appears to be specific for this mission is: SolarWinds Log & Event Manager To eliminate the issue being with the specific…
