In all seriousness though, automation is great, if it is implemented carefully by techies, for techies. If it's driven from anywhere else (CFOs, I'm looking at YOU!) it can be a disaster.
-
A tough one, but I'm going with HAL this round!

Great post! Looking forward to reading the rest in the series! Automation within ITSM is a great thing.. BUT.. you should always leave yourself some room to manoeuvre, or can automate yourself into a unbreakable loop of trigger/new ticket/reset... Be careful, and responsible, when automating aspects of ITSM is my advice

Oh man, shame these are in the states, as I'd love to have a crack at PM. I do it as part of project delivery already, it's an interesting part of the job.
-
Congrats!

It's a good idea, but I don't think it's as easy as it sounds with the current schema. aLTeReGo, could this be a possibility? Enquiring minds would like to know

I, Robot. Now is not the time for mediocrity!

I'd vote for a removal of the down-vote, and make the counter a single button, which looks like this: When someone clicks it, the background colour changes to green, and the number of votes is seen to the right of it. This would remove the penalty for people who down vote, as it wouldn't be possible, and imho down voting…

Grats to the winners!

The board is green... fingers crossed, would love to see some black and yellow tomes on my bookcase!

Another awesome post! I enjoyed them all, and even scored a bullseye in the archery minigame 80% of the time. I'm a virtual Olympic champ lol The Trump/Clinton infosite was also informative. Shows how futile the primaries really are, and how shockingly un-involved most Americans are at the point where the challengers for…

Automation should be seen as a tool to increase efficiency of a team or project, rather than the current craze of IT HAS TO BE AUTOMATED! Ultimately, no-matter whether you think automation is a good thing or not, one thing that is absolutely necessary is complete and copious documentation of absolutely anything that is…

Let's hope not! The new owners aren't another tech company, so they'll likely leave everything as it is, considering it's a successful business already. If anything, they will promote further investment in developing the products, so we may see more awesomeness in the future (I'm an optimist, I can't help being sunny about…

Cheers sqlrockstar! I will enjoy delving into these links

That's a possibility! Whilst the $50 card would be nice, as a wintel engineer I'm more interested in ensuring SW keep their Microsoft status

Well, that was an epic mission, and a great way to hammer home some of the awesome new features of NPM 12! Got my name in the hat this month, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed to see if the fancy screen comes my way Either way, it's been a fun and informative activity! Keep 'em coming!

NPM 12 is the 'master' for the new Orion core. I can't say any more, as that'll be giving the game away somewhat, but this is a rather large hint

Metrics are key when it comes to operations management. For example, having the evidence to go to a application owner that proves they need to do some stability enhancements key, otherwise you may be ignored. Being able to run off a report every week, that highlights any server or application which has had more than what…

Rats! Got them all right bar today's question. Could have sworn it was an easy one, considering there are only five boxes and I ticked 'em all Still, the hint is a good read, so it's not all bad.

Congrats to the winners!

Aye @"xtraspecialj" , I do mean from within the template itself, while you're working with it. I'll see if I can clarify that in the idea, to remove any confusion. Thanks for the feedback man, appreciated!

Yay! Cheers maria.bungau! Worked fine that time!

About a year ago now, I decided to start my own IT consultancy (10th March 2015). It's still going strong, I'm happy to report! I can do Microsoft up to 3rd line level, I have experience in multiple other fields, and I'm learning networking. I'm one of those IT Generalists, I suppose. What do advertise that my business…

You are most welcome @"bobmarley". This post is the output of a much larger collaboration of minds behind the scenes, so I'm very glad it's serving it's purpose!
-
I think that's because voting for the play-in has just finished, Cap'n Morgan carries the day (huzzah!), and they haven't enabled the second round yet

@"kpina" second bullet point needs a space after Observability! Your friendly neighbourhood proof reader

+1! Will be handy to have tabs visible based on custom property values.

Hold the phone! That's awesome news!

You've got a point, bmallon, but I can't see SWI re-engineering the products and schema in order to free up a some table space here and there. Most of the heavy lifting per-module are in module-specific tables, which do not have duplication of polled data with information stored elsewhere. The issue is that many of…
