I'm the same as njoylif, I shut down the services on the APEs/web and as soon as the main is upgraded I start upgrading the others concurrently. It can sometimes take a while for the newer versions to be included in the bundles. I also ran into an issue once with a SAM hotfix where the APE wouldn't install because of…

The difference between the new HA and FOE is that HA only supports servers in the same subnet. If you need HA across datacenters, you're going to need to span layer 2 between them or use FOE. Or run up a second standalone system but that means more licenses and extra admin work.

Thanks for the info Jan. I hoped that by uninstalling the hotfixes it would stop looking for that particular file but it looked like the installer continues to look for it even after uninstalling all hot fixes. I've just finished reinstalling the hot fix (OrionPlatform-v2017.1.5300-Hotfix2) on the server now and it didn't…

The problem I have is the installer isn't installing anything that I can apply a hot fix to. I've tried both IP and host names.
-
This is a new HA - the installer won't even install the initial set of applications to apply a hot fix to?

The instruction provided by support are as follows. DISCLAIMER: I take no responsibility for you changing these values unless advised to do so from SolarWinds. # Open "c:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\AgentManagement\SolarWinds.AgentManagement.ServiceCore.dll.config" in notepad # Find tag…

I had not applied any updates but I checked the update history and it looks like the last updates were installed over a year ago. I installed the latest versions of .NET Framework 4.5.2 , and the x64 and x86 VC++ 2013 redistributables. The service is still crashing with DPI/AMS features enabled.

This might also be just a Cisco IOS bug. I've had a similar case with a 3750 where SolarWinds reported the PSU as Not Functioning but the output on the device is OK. Cisco have it listed under bug ID: CSCtx16194 with a fix in IOS 15.0(2)SE3.…

Thanks byrona. These agents/servers haven't been cloned either. It's a brand new SolarWinds install and the agents have been newly deployed. Well, an update of sorts. I tried rebooting an agent on an endpoint server and that looked to have resolved the node status issue. I advised the server guys they'd need to restart the…

If you're still having issues, I recommend contacting SW support.

Cheers!

aLTeReGo is this still valid? I am finding that when swapping nodes from SNMP to WMI, node CPU/Memory polling is being disabled. I also found a thread from a user who also ran into the same issue: Re: Changed Polling Method, Ran discovery on ~200 nodes. All missing cpu/memory monitoring. Edit: This particular system is…

When you click on the Interface it should bring up the Interface Details page. On that page you should see a resource called Interface Polling Details that tells you what the current interval is. I am guessing that the interval is still around 10 minutes? When you edit the chart, you are telling Solarwinds to show 1 minute…

The only thing I can think of is to upgrade the Orion Core version on the additional pollers. However, there's a fairly high chance that if you have an additional poller you are running another module with the latest Core version anyway.

You could create a custom property "DeviceType" or whatever you want to call it and configure it with a drop-down menu with the values Core Devices, Distribution Devices, Access Devices, Servers, Storage, Firewalls, etc. Once the custom property has been created, assign a value to every device in the system. On the Summary…

Some of the agents were fixed by restarting the agent on the remote machines. I have a scheduled GoTo Meeting with a developer Thursday 21/04 5pm AEST so they can look at the agents on some of the servers. Case #934710

I've seen Orion not be able to match up vCenter with ESX hosts and hosts with VMs if you are monitoring under different IP addresses (e.g. NAT). Similar to monitoring a UCS chassis over NAT - NPM can't match the blades to the chassis.

Edit: I posted first before noticing this thread was for NCM, then deleted my post, but figure I may as well leave it here if anyone wants to do this in NPM. Bit of a thread revive but you can try the following (I'm not a SQL DBA or anything so I don't know if there is a more efficient method). This will sort by descending…

Try opening Advanced Alert Manager with "Run as Administrator". I've found that occasionally the alert manager cannot see the custom properties unless you do this. An optional extension of this alert idea is to create some custom properties such as AlertEmailAddress1 and AlertEmailAddress2, and put the primary email…

Update: Reported the issue to the SolarWinds UX team and they created a bug report to investigate.
-
Are you aiming to keep NCM and NPM completely separate or is it ok to have NPM/NCM integrated but still on separate servers? If the latter, then there is a section in the NCM Administration Guide about installing NCM on a separate server and integrating into NPM. "Migrating NCM to a Different Server/Deployment Type - Case…

Thanks jblankjblank - I mentioned this comment in my support case and waiting on the support rep to provide the buddy drop. Will update once that has been provided.

I was wondering if there was an issue with topology calculations in Orion 2019.2. I had a client running NPM 12.4 with some Network Atlas maps showing connections but after upgrading to NPM 12.5 (Orion 2019.2 HF1), the connections went unknown on the map and the new map sub-view stopped showing connected devices. Cisco…

You will need to use the Universal Device Poller (UnDP) tool on the SolarWinds server. Monitor custom statistics based on OIDs with Universal Device Pollers Create the 3 pollers and assign them to your Alcatel switches.
-
Unless I'm missing something, you can already do this via the website?
-
The polling engine will poll for node statistics every 10 minutes (default) using the selected method (WMI/SNMP). Interface and volume statistics are collected separately (default 9 minutes and 15 minutes respectively). This can be configured globally and on a per-node basis. The status polling uses ICMP by default every…

Hi jrich, The status "changed" can be found by modifying the logic condition "is equal to". I don't have anything available to test the actual alert itself with at the moment but this is where you can configure the alert.

The system will suggest a "caption" for the node when you first add the device using the system name as a suggestion. If you then change the hostname/system name of a node and rediscover/repoll the node, the node caption will stay the same but the detected system name will be updated. If you want to modify the node…
