Agreed - nice way to start a Friday morning.

I have attended a couple of SWUGs and can confirm the benefits of being able to meet up with other users, discuss issues with SolarWinds directly, etc. One of the downsides though was the feeling that it was over too soon. SolarWinds has a number of modules and typically there was a focus on "here is what is new in NPM and…

As above, I didn't know you were the sole staffer on thwack - impressive! Welcome to maria.bungau !
-
Nice piece! I only found out about Lens a couple of months ago and think it's great. P.S. I'd also like a MS Surface Pro but I'm happy with my current work laptop and can't justify replacing it.
-
A great read nickzourdos! A perfect example of how to combine the various resources to provide a really useful dashboard.
-
According to http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/Orion/docs/ScalabilityEngineGuidelines.pdf NCM and NTA don't support stackable pollers and you would still need the separate servers. It looks to only be supported for NPM and SAM.

I agree with your comment about potential viability of the cloud for small companies. For larger companies, there is always the question regarding security, access, management, etc. We've also seen companies go from local servers to distributed/cloud and back to local hosting again because of their requirements.

Hmm, this type of math would be beneficial when it comes to bonus discussions!
-
Congrats!
-
Agreed. I can only put it down to the recent Star Wars movie and votes going to the flavour of the month. It's the only explanation!
-
That little hiccup knocked out a university. Since then, I've always made it very clear to IPAM customers what that checkbox does.
-
Classic reference! Thanks DanielleH and SolarWinds for running the competition. It's been fun! And also cheers to wabbott for coming up with the questions/riddles.
-
Maybe even also on the List Resources screen as a second checkbox next to the interfaces.
-
Congrats jphenix ! I hope the jet lag isn't too bad maria.bungau
-
Nested IP Groups would also be great.
-
Agreed, succinct and what I aim for as well. I also agree with the article comments about SNMPv3 usage. I've deployed SolarWinds in a lot of environments and SNMPv3 is still very rare - to the point I can count them on one hand.
-
I know you can ignore indexes below a certain threshold but for the other part of this request, is there a way to see the size of the indexes?
-
Congrats bman6074 and nhkelley!
-
Same thing as the other rounds but it's just a single round to kick things off. The winner will be added to the 31 entries to make the first round of 32.

A fairly large datacenter in Melbourne failed a fair few years ago during a large CBD power outage because the backup diesel generators failed and the UPS batteries depleted.
-
It varies based on the data being summarised but generally it will keep the minimum and maximum values in the time frame, and average the average values. In your example, the interface will have a minimum of X% (less than 10% if that is the average), a max of 90%, and average of 10%. I don't believe this can be changed (or…

Hmm, that makes a lot more sense. I was just thinking "huh... why?". My only experience with LinkedIn is random requests for connections from recruiters and the occasional job offer that has nothing to do with my profile.
-
I missed most of last years word-a-day challenge so it's great to see everyone's thoughts this year.
-
Congrats guys!
-
Congrats again! But booo for the UK being eligible and Australia not.
-
You can do this now but you have to do it via Groups. * Create a group * Add a dynamic query that meets your criteria * In the Manage Templates view, click the Assign to Group button The system will automatically assign the template to all members of that group. When a new member joins the group, the system will assign the…

I've got a customer that came to us regarding some performance issues. I suspect it's their SQL server so I've been trying to get permission to run AppInsight for SQL in their environment for further analysis. Slow progress but I think they'll come around eventually and approve it.
-
Yes, I agree. I can see what answer they were looking for but I think it's disingenuous to say there is only "one right answer".
-
I've enjoyed the monthly challenge although admittedly I was struggling towards the end. Holiday mode activated!
-
I also like to walk around and hear about new technologies, even from other areas/specialities. Even though I tell the product reps at the start that I was just curious, I still feel a little bad after the rep has gone through their spiel. Missed you guys at Cisco Live Australia this year!
