I still have a hard time understanding NSX. I get virtualization - it runs on server hardware...where does NSX run and how does it know of all the switches and routers in my network? It can't run on my cisco equipment nor my fortinet equipment...

One other thing to remember is think and plan carefully when building your guest vm's - specifically around how you design disks and controllers. Like physical machines, virtual machines take advantage of optimization techniques such as separate scsi controllers for data disks rather than a single controller for multiple…

the problem I have is, IF they decide to replace the tools, they replace them with something that's been outdated for several years already...
