In Orion 10.1 we did try to resolve the Last Boot Issues that was being seen in 10.0 and prior. I suggest to upgrade, and if the issue still exists to open a Support Case.

The Database is not easily accessible from the Web Console. The best way to access the Database is though Microsoft SQL Studio or Database Manger on the server For SQL Studio Manager: * Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > SQL Server Management Studio * Using sa credentials, log in to your SQL Server\Instance* If…

I would recommend that you first restart your Server. It appears that the services were removed and are not able to Install and start, rebooting will clear the services from the OS, then you can run the Configuration Wizard to get the services back and working. * After reboot, please Go to Start> Programs> Solarwinds…

Since this is a VM running on VMWare ESX, is the Virtual Machine Thin or Thick Provisioned? I have seen when a Thin Provisioned VM would report several in excess of 10+ Gigs of RAM in use when Task Manager's memory data did not support the graphs. It is possible that this is occurring with the CPU in this case. Please…

Node Details page is dividing by 1000 and if you go into the Volume Details, it does show the device correctly divided by 1024. The rest of Orion does divide the volume by 1024. This is only a view issue, Alerts are not affected by this.

The Virtualization tab turns on when you Connect the Virtualization Manager product to the Orion Web Console (Settings> Virtualization Settings> Setup Virtualization Manager integration). If you are only using the built in Virtualization with Network Performance Monitor, the Virtualization link under Home tab.

I have looked into our DameWare Errors List (General Network Configuration & Implementation Issues) and it is reporting that the majority of these Errors are on the OS level. What I would recommend to do is to bring up command prompt and do a nslookup on the hostname to see how many IP Addresses respond to the name.…

Looking at the MIB hpicfBridgeLoopProtectLoopDetectedNotification (1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.12.1.5.0.1), this is a Trap OID that will have to be monitored via the Trap Viewer. Anytime you see a Lightning Bolt in the Browse MIBs tree will denote that this is a Trap OID only. It appears that this…

When the Alert Supression Field is true, it will Suppress all Alerts from Triggering Alert 1 will not work because as long as a single Device with the Custom Property of "ImportedFromBigBrother" was No, then this Alert will never trigger. Alert 2 is correctly designed. The Node will have to be down and…

The current Alert Manager will re-trigger alerts every 10 days. Any Alert that is active for this time will have their Actions re-triggered automatically. The Alert Manager will send the same events as any new Alert, but we do not track how many times it has re-triggered. To change the limit update the following app…

The OID working and Failing could be a result of an issue with the SNMP Agent on the Device. Make sure you are up to date on the Firmware, and check TrippLite to see if this issue has been reported to them before.

Error Code 4 can be caused by a few things. Check to make sure all Solarwinds Services (NCM and Toolset) are Stopped. Then Rerun the Update.exe. I have seen a few Instances where SWToolset.exe was running, once I went into Task Manager and killed it, it went through fine.

There are a few customers that have been doing this for several years to insert data into the Orion Database. Microsoft SQL Studio Manager will be your best option for running these Queries. You will be able to create a Schedule and have it execute SQL Queries. Click Here for the Steps.

Dameware's current version is 11.1 which was released November 2014. There is no version 12 at this time.

Network Performance Monitor will give you only the overall link utilization. To identify the Protocol of Traffic, Source and Destination IP address, you would need NetFlow Traffic Analyzer. You will need to configure NetFlow on the Router or Netflow capable switches where the traffic is passing though in order to give you…

We noticed where Customers started having SQL Connectivity issues where the SQL Server would drop our Connections, which in turn would stop polling. Starting in 10.0 and above Orion NPM now attempts to reestablish connection for all Services and reestablish Polling.
-
Try variations of public such as Public or PUBLIC. Community Strings are Case Sensitive on most Devices.
-
I could see why you would want to have NetFlow on your Hot Standby, but you would have to configure your Devices send NetFlow information to your Hot Standby regardless of whether or not your Orion Poller was down. This would create an additional load on your Network that would be discarded until the Hot Standby came up.

If they are using the same Web Console, then APM is on the same Database as NPM and NTA. If they are using a separate Website, then run the Configuration Wizard, select Database then Next, and you will see the SQL Server, select Next again and you will see the Database that it connects to.

The order of the Installation does not Matter, except for 2 products. The 2 products are NetFlow and IP SLA Manager as they need the Network Performance Monitor Installed as a requirement.

Web Performance Monitor does not have an out of the box Alert Action to restart a Service, IIS Site, or Application Pool; but Server and Application Monitor does include these actions out of the box. For Web Performance Monitor you would need to setup and Alert Action to execute a script, then build a script to restart the…
