I'm guessing Google Apps won the low cost award and probably does most of what your users need anyway. That's an interesting cultural transition though, depending on the staff in your organization. Good luck!

I have exactly the same t-shirt! Strangely it becomes my attire of choice on a Friday around beer o'clock.

That's what I think too, but it's such a buzz word at a lot of conferences, you'd think it had just been invented. We've certainly seen the tools mature though, with the likes of Puppet and Chef, not to mention Powershell.

If only we could solve that problem! That's why I think it's more important than ever that you have some trusted information sources you can skim regularly for announcements, then know what to deep dive into when you need to.

Makes sense. But even our tools aren't really pushing the limits of hardware these days. We find the biggest blow out is disk space, as everything is larger .. whether it's network packet captures or video files. Just as well disk is cheap. I'm just upgrading the SSD in my 2012 laptop for less than $300 and can't justify…

I've been in the industry nearly 20 years and there are still days when I feel inadequate and like I know nothing! Don't underestimate the foundation you have, even though it might seem far away from what you need in the real world. Learning on the job is amazing and it will start to click when you hear something later and…

I'd love for every system to support fingerprint login. Know of many Enterprises that enforce 2FA? We used to have a third party system for RSA token access to remote sessions when we were off the corporate network.

Betamax vs VHS?

And then let's talk version control for that scripting ... fun times.

The real time co-authoring is pretty cool. Any Google lovers will tell you that Google docs have had that for ages, but most of our customers live in a Microsoft-centric world. I've seen companies store Word docs in Google Drive, convert them to Google Docs for editing and then save them back as .docx again .. .and it…
