Did this get resolved for you Mark? We are running 5.5.1 and the inventory still takes many many hours. It used to take about 2 hours - I was assuming I had a database type issue since we did an upgrade at about the same time. Dave.

We obtain our gateway raw data (Cisco 3845's also) via another product, and then generate some graphs on our SQL Report Server. It would be great to see this as part of the IP SLA module. As below, we generate the absolute numbers for each gateway (available ports and used), and also calculate the % utilisation figures.…

Lee - yes I do have the VoIP module installed and haven't yet installed SP3 (I didn't actually realise it was available). Will get this done ASAP - easy to fix if I had examined the error message provided a little more closely! Dave.

I know I've requested this before, but I'll like to also give this one another plug. I currently have a daily audit report for our custom properties (via an external report writer) - to at least warn me when a custom property is blank or not a valid value. A drop down list and mandatory/not mandatory control would help a…

Thanks Haley, While as of yesterday we are licenced Cirrus customers, I will not be able to install Cirrus into production until some security features that are due in v4 are available. Hence the question regarding the Cirrus v4 beta (and I'm aware that there may be some undetermined time gap between the beta and final…

Yes, ours are also part of the same windows domain. I also ran through the process support suggested (recreating the web site) which resulted in the same issue. On the positive side, support indicated that they have re-created our issue - which is great (and will obviously assist them in solving this issue), Sav.

We also today finally got 9.5 SP4 installed on our test/dev server (issue #10893). The problem resolution involved performing a manual copy of the Interop.OrionSWLicenseWrapper.dll file from C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\ to C:\Inetpub\SolarWindsNPM\bin\ Why this problem occurred for us (on a clean Windows 2003 build,…

Hi Christine, Support confirmed that the fix for #112930 (which deals with orphaned records) was meant to be in NCMv6. It doesn't appear however to have made it - support provided the SQL which should have been included in the maintenance job to perform this operation. However, this only removed <2% of the 60 million…

We can't get the SP3 install to complete. Seems to be an issue with permissions when performing the web site configuration. SP1 installed without issues. Have even rebuild the server completely - still have the same issue. Support have been working with us for several weeks now with no solution. Thanks goodness this is our…

We use the following SQL statement as an ADO user experience monitor within ipMonitor. select ServerName, KeepAlive, GetDate(), DateDiff(second, KeepAlive, GetDate()) from [dbo].[Engines] where DateDiff(second, KeepAlive, GetDate()) > 60 If the row count returned is > 0, then at least one of your pollers hasn't updated the…

Case #29488 opened yesterday - and I have been provided a suggested patch/service pack to apply. It will be applied to our test system today, and hopefully scheduled over the weekend onto our production systems. Dave.
-
Thanks Casey - I'm sure that is exactly what happened. We have 4000+ nodes, and at least 1500 have been refreshed over the last 3-6 months. This would have left us with a large number of orphaned interfaces as you have explained. Always nice to have a explanation to these things! Dave.

Thanks Quang, however this only covers the reverse situation - where Orion is doing the message forwarding. In our case, we have Kiwisyslog forwarding the message to Orion. Kiwi syslog inserts a string into the forwarded message ("Original Address=xx.xx.xx.xx). I wanted Orion to be able to extract the original address from…

As I noted about, we use the inventory data to reconcile back to our asset management system. As a service provider, this is used for input into billing systems and consolidated hardware lists for our hardware maintenance providers (i.e. chassis, module data and serial number detail). Not only does this mean that we can…

Thanks Andy! Dave.

Hi ET, There doesn't seem to be any issue with completing an snmpwalk over these devices. The topology poll failures however all appear to be devices in our DMZ zones - for VLANs that are not routed and have no bridging occurring. The collector doesn't seem to handle this very well. I'll continue to work this via the issue…

I have the same issue after application of 10.2.1 (from 10.2). Of 4 polling engines, 1 is reporting down (although it is collecting data - and appears to be functioning correctly). Tried a number of config wizards, repairs etc, but no change). I'll raise a case. Dave.

We have just upgraded from the VoIP module to IP SLA Manager - and also have no graphs displayed for any of our UDP jitter operations. Given that these graphs were previously displayed under the VoIP module, and I can see the stats on the router using the show rtr coll command (and the dials on the web page have data), I…

It changed in APM 3.1 Byron (brings it into line with the other modules). The release notes for APM 3.1 state: Orion APM Additional Polling Engines are now FREE!You no longer need to purchase a license to add Orion APM polling capabilities to your existing Orion NPM Additional Polling Engines. Use the same installer you…

That is correct. I have just updated the Content Exchange item with the updated SSIS package (just included it with the orginal zip file). We have been using it with v10.0 for quite some time, but are a few weeks away from the v10.1 upgrade (so it hasn't been tested at 10.1 as yet). Dave.

I seem to have a similar issue. NPM v10 seemed to be very stable for about a week, and then after a restart of the services (install of NCM v6 integration module) I now have CPU issues. CPU is consumed by SWJobEngineWorker processes. The JobEngine.sdf file seemed to double in size at about this time - replacement with the…

Thanks Denni. Sorry to be slow, but is this a fix for the known Custom Poller memory leak, or the dllhost.exe memory growth issue? Regards, Dave.

New version of the database has the same issue. I'm using IOS 12.4(24)T1. Dave.

In my experience, most of the performance gains I have seen relate to the database performance. With Orion, database performance in our implementation is never CPU bound - it's always I/O performance that is the bottleneck (we have 3 pollers and 15,000 elements). The poller is mainly a single threaded app - it doesn't…

I think netlogix also had a very good suggestion. Your database size seems very large for your number of elements and data retention. One of the first steps should be to find out what is consuming all this space and making the database perform poorly. If you don't want to use the Visual Stdio report as suggested by…

Support has also confirmed to me that this is under active development. Looking forward to a resolution! Dave.

Unfortunately for everyone - I just can't leave an issue like this alone(sorry). On our additional web server (and the primary) I also observe high read/write rates on the C: drive - something that should not be occurring. This post also seemed to see the same issue. Running a process monitor on the server, I found that…

I'm not in front of our system, but as a rough estimate we wouldn't have more than 40 rules per report and a max of 300 devices. It's slow, but I can view the entire policy report in the web console (I haven't tried this since I added the index - will make a comment on this when I get back to work in the morning). We also…

I'm another one who tends to think that Solarwinds have moved away somewhat from the single integrated toolset approach that first attracted me to the Orion product. Don't get me wrong, I understand why this occurs - the company must sell product to fund development, and maintenance alone doesn't provide the required means…

I suspect that the Call Manager stats via WMI will only apply to version 4.x of Call Manager. The 5.x versions have abandoned the Windows based platform architecture. Dave.
