I did a work around for my problem. I monitor the cluster IP of the two members, but only monitor the server portion. I do not apply any of the instances on it. That's a little different scenario as mine will be on the same server, not split between two, and technically I have three independent SolarWinds servers, each will have two engines. SAM is the big dog on the server, the burden it puts on the engines is intense.

Figured this out on my own. Downloaded the SolarWinds SDK tool and used it to identify the appropriate alias' for my query. 

I have SAM 6.2.2 and NPM 11.5.2 and have never seen this issue in any previous versions or the current with the latest hotfix. (and the Windows team does a terrible job of keeping DNS up to date.) Running on Windows Server 2012 R2 with a 2012 SQL DB. Odd this problem isn't universal.

Actually I monitor all of my Windows systems with WMI and I have volumes drop off all the time, so monitoring with WMI is not a workaround. We have critical systems that I monitor the volumes/mounts on and when they "disappear" the alerts don't trigger.

I resolved my own problem. The application monitor was set to run on an x86 platform, it needed to be x64. As soon as I changed the setting the correct memory information started to display.
