I am currently on 8.5. would you not recommend it on the production server? Mark Salyer

Ok, I found out which one it was. SolarWinds.JobEngineService.exe. But here is the interesting part. I had two of them running when I had APM installed. I remember that distinctly. Curious part though was that only one of them was taking up CPU utilization. It would take up the bulk of the CPU. So I went and looked again,…

Grabowski, It will really depend on whether you are using Access or SQL for your backend. MS SQL Server has great database security, so I would not worry about someone compromising that data. It is not really stored as text on the server side. Then again, it is only as good as the person running the SQL Server to begin…

You have to call support and have your account changed to V8. That is what we had to do. Keep in mind, last I was told was Wireless and Application monitors would not work with *current* V8. A new version will be out around the 12th to fix that. MarkS

When I called to get my account moved to V8, support informed me that a new version with many bug fixes would be out on the 12th. Application monitor and Wireless monitor supposedly will work then. MarkS

I called and asked about this one, it seems it is another poller that watches the SQL tables for changes. If no changes are noticed, then it assumes the poller has died and takes over. It is not a load balanced poller, it stays inactive till it feels that the other poller is dead. At least that is how it was explained to…

Are you using the standalone webserver or using the one on your Netflow Box? Same error I had when trying to use the addon web server. Check my post a couple links down if you are. Else, sounds like your webserver was not updated. Same error I was getting. Marks

Mine was slow as well, but I found that the database-maintenance task was running for days. They made a change to the maintenance to get rid of some old data. Once the maintenance task had finally completed, my website picked up speed. Can you see if the maintenance task is still running? Database-Maint.exe I believe will…

I am not currently running the Netflow module, but when I was beta testing it, I was able to run a sql query and find the interface id. I could be very wrong on this, but I believe the Interface ID is stored in the Interfaces table. Again, I do not have the Netflow module, so I am trying to remember here. select * from…

quote:Originally posted by dclecompte We think we have a solution. We are currently testing that solution. We want to be sure that it will actually fix the problem and will not break anything else. As soon as we're confident, we plan to release a patch. I won't promise a date because if this fix is not a real fix, we'll…

Denny, Any update on this issue? Support has not been able to help me solve my issue. I can add 5 nodes to a custom OID and only 2 of the 5 will pull. I ran the sql query that was posted and it showed only 2 of the nodes were being updated time wise. Funny thing though, If I delete and recreate the Custom Poll, the same…

Couple things I would like to see. 1. Script engine. Allow me to write VB script to return values to solarwinds. Example: My script could download a web page (say the company web page) and return a 1 if it was successful or a 0 if not. Then I could really monitor anything I wanted with full alerting. 2. I would like a…

I have been running on SQL 2k5 for about two months now. I have had a couple of issues (see Database Maintenance Thread) but cannot say that it is a 2K5 issue. Up until the last update, everything was going fine. Support did not seem to happy that I was running 2K5 as it has not been cleared for Orion yet. So you may be on…

Do this on the sql server: wmiadap /f then: wmiadap /resync then: restart the Windows Management Instrumentation service. Let us know. MarkS

I am now convinced that the poller does ignore the unmanaged setting. We decided to delete all of our old unmanaged nodes and things improved greatly. I had somewhere close to 200 unmanaged nodes that I deleted. The website showed us monitoring less nodes than before. Plus, the poller tuner showed a lot less nodes and…

Yes, they do totally (well, maybe not totally) seperate things. MOM does really good application level monitoring whereas Orion does more network activity and "Is this thing alive" type monitoring. I know that I am making it seem really simple, but they do different things. MOM does things that I never expect Orion to do,…

Ok, as a quick follow on, I found another VOIP router onsite that did respond to all the snmp queries, (different type router) and it failed with the same message. I did make sure the snmp rw password was entered into the system manager first. Mark Salyer
