This is still an issue. Do you know of a fix or better work around? How about you, serena ?

Did you ever get this resolved? If so, how? Do you have the Netflow accessory card installed in the supervisor?

If you search Thwack for "ignore" and "interface" and "NPM" you'll find your request is a relatively common one. https://thwack.solarwinds.com/search.jspa?q=npm+ignore+interface You can dig a bit through the responses from the above link; maybe you'll find someone with some helpful suggestions. Or at least you'll find…

You'll need to discover the correct OID / MIB that can provide the CPU & RAM info you seek. Until you get the right OID selected / implemented, you'll remain challenged. One possible starting point: Netdisco / Mibs / [862530] /cisco/CISCO-ENTITY-VENDORTYPE-OID-MIB.my

That's unusual behavior---IF you have correctly configured the switch and the snmp strings in NPM. I suggest you review the two configurations (Edit the device in NPM and also carefully review the switch's snmp configuration for accuracy and typos). If you find NPM is correctly set up to monitor the switch via the right…

NPM tracks this information for you, and you can display it on the front page or NOC view of NPM by adding the "Last XX Audit Events" resource there. You can edit the resource to show as many Events, over as many Days, as you'd like. There are MANY audit events that can be displayed there. Just select all the ones that…

I'll be interested in seeing how someone recommends accomplishing this. If there were something unique about each network, such that you could write static routes to send your NPM polling to unique 32-bit addresses, or sub-ranges of the original 24-bit range, I could imaging how to do it. But suppose the two different…

I deployed this same sensor disabling solution after discovering similar problems reported on some new Cisco ASR 920 routers. I suspect their specific issue might be associated with having Interfaces with GBICs inserted and that have configurations present, but no link has been attached to them yet. Once I get a link…

How about it, SolarWinds experts? TAC is saying this might be a bunch of false positives, and there should be a patch to NPM that eliminates the issue. Yes? No? Jfrazier aLTeReGo jiri.cermak Dez What's the solution? I don't want to turn off alarms and then go ignorant when something's really wrong. But I trust SW over…

We purchased Cisco ISE to accomplish this, in much more granular / powerful enterprise format. I like your idea for using UDT to accomplish it. One would think that if Solarwinds NPM/NCM/UDT has RW capabilities, it could react to unauthorized devices and shut their network port(s) automatically.

Yah, it's so helpful to be in total control. Where I monitor our F5's and servers and internal resources, life is happy, everyone gets alerts when something isn't quite right. Monitoring an ASP's internal functionality can be problematic if you only get access to the VIP of their F5's. But if you can get deeper in, you…

After researching these types of errors with TAC and discovering they were virtually all false positives reported by NPM, and also after researching the errors within Thwack, I've swapped MIBs for my pollers from CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB to CISCO-ENVONMON-MIB. The warnings in NPM went away. The process to accomplish this:

Here are some ideas and links that should help you on the path to become a Solarwinds Certified Professional: * Read and understand the topics in these links, including the videos: SolarWinds Certified Professional - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support * Search the Thwack forum for CSP--Solarwinds Certified…

While I don't have the desired answer, I do have a question of my own: How does your script handle port status after a switch reboots and the timers and counters are reset to zero? Does it unmanage all ports that aren't active at the time of the poll?

Is NetPath a good option for you? Imagine having a VPN path that passes through multiple providers, and one of them has issues. Knowing you've got packet loss isn't enough data to show where the problem is, but NetPath seems like it would be the tool to show where the issue lies.

Which is easiest depends on your expertise. For me, I could add them quickly via the SW GUI. For aLTeReGo or sqlrockstar, my money's on them being able to do it in 30 seconds (or less) via SDK.

We're still looking for an update about the status of the leader board . . . I bet mrs.alterego and thegreateebzies are all over this . . . I hope?
-
I imagine the folks who manage the Leader Boards and rankings were given Thursday and Friday off for the Thanksgiving Holiday. And that they'll be back on top of it starting Monday. I bet by the following Friday all will be well again; maybe even sooner.

I'd suggest setting the ESX Hosts up with snmp-v3 or WMI and monitor them with NPM. Install the QoE client on them and see what you can learn about them. You'll be able to see the hung or slow processes via the QoE, and you can alert on their status. Set thresholds for performance and when it's exceeded, bingo--you're…

Would it fill your need for fewer alerts to use the Alert Suppression option based on Groups and Dependencies? I put the resources being monitored by NPM into a group and build a dependency for that group, and tie it to one resource. Example: I have a site with 20 switches and a router, and I monitor the state of all the…

Watching. Wishing this were a thing. I've pursued this since 2004. I hope I just missed the info about how to import Microsoft and Cisco Visio Stencils into NTM and Atlas, and it'll show up here. Not optimistic it'll happen, but one can hope.

So much in which to participate and earn points--so little time! I've got to figure a way to work remotely for SW. Their products are just too good and to fun to not spend more time with. That also goes for their staff and developers!

The best place to go is to look at the actual sales data sheet, but if that's too generic, you can look at the Getting Started guides. Network Performance Monitor has many great links to show you what the product can do, and how to make it do that and more. Some very high-level examples of what I regularly use and see in…

I use this method to discover ports that have not been used recently, and then I decide which can be unpatched and repurposed:
-
Check whether your NCM is configured to show passwords (and more) by going to File / Settings / Security, and then looking at what options have been selected. If you have a check in the "Hide Passwords" option, that may be the problem.
-
I still don't have a context for the opening of this discussion. Is there a question you have about this product, or about integrating its monitoring into Orion?

When planning an environment with multiple APE's, consider whether NAM licensing may be an appropriate solution for you. It offers the ability to expand to 40 APE's while simultaneously providing NPM, NCM, NTA, VNQM, IPAM, UDT, and HA. NAM does not include SAM and/or DPA. I found justification for the modules offered in…

Each time I read Dez's history and experience and training . . . I'm humbled and intimidated. Seriously, I.T. Rock Star Material! Makes me want to take my little 45,000-node-network and crawl in a hole. I envy the drive and knowledge and training and opportunities!

It's about time! Way to go, Dez We look forward to hearing what you have to say and share!

Although UDT is the right tool for this task, you can also discover this information on a per-switch basis by using Switch Port Mapper from the Solarwinds Engineers Toolset.
