Ah, poor Jeff Tran. Poor Super Bowl / NFL. Poor Microsoft. All seem intent on getting more money any way they can. All seem to violate good intentions and common sense. All need a lesson in applied altruism. Establishing an altruistic pattern over time would go a long way towards improving public trust. And that would only…

I share your exact sentiments. Learn something helpful. Compare my performance against others with Thwack points, hoping we're all doing great! I love it when a mission has actual troubleshooting steps to be taken on the simulator before one can determine the correct answer. I think I get the most out of those. I like it…

If you're testing the NPM 12.3 beta, you're seeing the first steps in this direction.

If you honestly believe Microsoft is telling you everything about the data they're collecting about you without your knowledge and specific permission, then you deserve them. I suspect many people would object and drop services to many systems (Facebook, Microsoft, Netflix, Instagram, etc.) if the people saw their data…

I tend to grin at that and say to myself "They're looking for either a time-traveler or a wizard, or else they're testing to see which applicants are detail-oriented."

If Amazon took over aviation production, they'd be set for delivery, too!

Block Chain: Nicely written, nicely leading-us-on-to-more-knowledge. Thanks! Predictive Modeling Targeting Our Medical Needs: I can see the use of this. But I also can see huge potential for what we'd possibly term "abusive predictions from modeling." Let's hope no one hears an insurance agency or health care provider say…

That last phrase you provided seems to take on a new meaning now . . . "You'll feel safer with Equifax. We're the leading provider of data breach services, serving more than 500 organizations with security breach events everyday," It's as if Equifax serves data breaches to their customers . . .

242 Up Votes is pretty good. Of course, nothing guarantees SW will implement/modify . . .

Do you have SW documentation or Cisco documentation that states these errors can be ignored? I thought I found something about it on Thwack, but I didn't bookmark it, and can't come up with the page that stated the bug fix or process to use to safely ignore these sensor bias errors.

Amen to this content. Moving many of our applications to the cloud, or using internal apps that are tied in various ways to cloud-based resources, has reduced our efficiency and output and productivity. Worse, troubleshooting apps that are either wholly in the cloud or that have some part tied to a cloud-based resource is…

The Ballad of Jenny and Fred The packets were many ‘tween Frederick and Jenny As two people fell into love. But network fails had derailed their e-mails Like a storm sent from up above. Wireshark caps revealed the flaps That made for their indigestion. And the worst there was, happened because Of horrible network…

Sadly, unless I don't properly understand NCM and its inability to support FTD and FCM, you'll discover you've also lost your ability to manage, alert on, and restore firewall configuration changes. Or, are you putting ASA software on your 4110's instead of FTD software? In that case you might not be so badly off . . .

I'll have to look into it more deeply now that we're deploying ISE across the enterprise. It's possible those controlled/uncontrolled interfaces may be playing with ISE, and there could be interesting things to learn if they were monitored. But I'm loathe to "waste" more element counts on the project if the ROI isn't…

Althought it's difficult, have patience. If there really ARE 150,000 members in Thwack (as is touted on the Thwack web page), if any significant percentage of them participated in this mission, your likelihood of winning a prize (selected from all those who got this week's questions answered correctly, or who correctly…

Certainly, HA deployments have occasionally caused more outages than they prevented. And they've tripled or quadrupled the complexity and cost and time-to-troubleshoot networks. I'd be happy to support a single switch going to a single NIC on a single server. But the downtime associated with upgrading the switch IOS or…

In my environment part of DR includes implementing diverse LAN and WAN points of passage through my campus, due to the very real possibility of backhoe fade AND helicopter crashes. Yes, multiple helicopters pass over my campus sky walks every day, sometimes passing directly over head only a hundred feet above them. So, the…

When the article said "You should never have to touch these boxes. If there’s something wrong, change the config and redeploy." Let me know when Cisco products, and when Solarwinds modules, have that part down.

I call Droogie receiving thousands of parking ticket fees "justice" when he intentionally tried to mess up the DMV licensing/ticketing system by using an invalid license plate. Perhaps the DMV should have prevented him from getting that plate, but I feel he's receiving his just rewards for trying to deceive. What a shame…

I'm for anything that improves database design, use, speed, reliability, and recovery. I got a kick out of the article: The Deadlock Empire Slay dragons, master concurrency

Boy, THERE'S the voice of experience talking, and I hope everyone listens to it. Far too many times have I seen products purchased and dropped on the network, with corporate understanding that they are solely POC, only to discover corporate believes (and expects) these LAN-based L2 solutions will scale to an Enterprise…

Thanks!

Oh, boy--these posts sure bring to mind some experiences! Ten years ago our electricians were reworking the Emergency Power Off options in two of our data centers. The new EPO switches were installed in each, but didn't have the protective plastic covers on them. When one of the electricians was finished using a folding…

Amazon. What's wrong with behaving honorably and ethically, even at the temporary expense of some market points?

If you can chunk a pumpkin a mile or more, you've got respect from these folks:

Nice encouragement. Thank you.

I try not to be overly impressed with certifications--I've met a few paper MCSE's who couldn't find PerfMon or answer a question if Event Viewer was the answer. But I don't think that applies here--those five tools are efficient and effective. And they cover a wider set of criteria than I'd have included, therefore that…

You continue to rock, and your quick responses--and solutions--remain impressive!

How could America conquer Jack Sparrow (a rogue and a scallywag), but not take an immediate big lead over Solo--another rogue and scallywag? For that matter, how could Sparrow NOT take out Solo?

Honestly, the schedule should be spread across enough time slots so a single person could easily attend every session.
