Awesome, I subscribe but haven't had a chance to view any videos yet. I love the idea of more SW content on YT and look forward to more videos from you. Good luck!

I found this report while looking for solutions, but this report doesn't have the time of the reset, just the time of the event (trigger time) I'm looking for a report that will show the length of the event: Trigger/event time and reset time, so that we can review the length of the events to see if tweaking the dealy time…

Wanted to thank everyone in the thread for their help. Wasn't able to get it quite working without using a join till @"bobmarley" commented. This works perfectly and I stored it away as a template for creating these types of reports. Thanks again!
-
Thanks for this, I think this is going to work for what I need.

Thanks @"brentbo" for this thread, because I had taken the same script and tried to do the same thing with it (adding ICMP nodes) and had the same problem, and this thread fixed it all for me. Also thanks to @"sum_giais" for the solution! Wish the old thread wasn't locked, as a note pointing to this thread would probably…

That was resolved quickly. It was a FW problem. When I initially tested, I was connected to one of our VPN nodes. When I tried to run the script, I was connected to a different node, and there the FW rules were blocking me.

Raising this thread from the dead, I"m looking for an answer to this exact same question. We'd like the network team to get an issue when a node (or nodes) fail the nightly compliance report.

Poking this back to the top. I'm running into issues successfully adding some new Arista hardware, and was wondering if anybody had any sort of hints or tips on getting it working. I'm not the one configuring the Arista hardware, so any tips I can pass along would be helpful.

I had a similar issue of trying to get a syslog message to act as a reset for an alert triggered by another syslog message. Asking the question here, I got a solution that is working for me for other syslog based alerts. thwack.solarwinds.com/.../can-i-create-a-reset-condition-based-off-a-syslog-message

Found it. Temperature ${SQL:Select (${N=SwisEntity;M-Value}*9/5+32)} Fahrenheit
-
The account is setup for Fahrenheit and that's the unit that is displayed on dashboards. That doesn't affect the unit used in email alerts.
-
Nice. ${N=SwisEntity;M-Value} does give me the temp, but in that OTHER unit (centigrade) Is it possible to convert this to Fahrenheit in the email? I found a 8 year old thread, but doesn't seem to work.

@"KMSigma.SWI" I wanted to let you know this worked perfectly. Perfect solution for triggering and resetting alerts based off syslog messages. Thanks!
-
Thanks! I'll give this a try and let you know if I get it working or not.

Awesome thread. The templates were very helpful, as I really didn't want to try to wake the old HTML part of my brain back up. And thank you VERY much Mr @"cahunt"! The trick about removing the spaces in the table coding fixed an issue I had been trying to figure out for a week or so.

I like the idea of having Team/Zoom study sessions. Having online live 'classes' might not work as well for many, as we are spread across the globe in different time zones and have many things that keep us from attending when we'd like to, so I like the idea of on-your-own-pace learning because of that. But the idea of…

Hey All, Sorry, I've been pretty distracted these past few weeks, but I have been thinking about this. Firstly, to address @"KMSigma.SWI" questions about what would be a wish list, I think first and foremost would be an area dedicated to learning SWQL. The SDK section is sort of like this, but is much more of an area where…

No, I wasn't looking for anything with that sort of a cooldown, it just appeared that it wasn't working at all. I've been messing with this syslog rule and alert for a day, and I think I just somehow messed things up with all of the changes, because it seemed to stop working completely. I deleted the syslog rule and alert…

Hmm... that seems to work, but it's also listed each node twice. Trying to figure out if I can figure out why and fix that.
-
I would love to get in on this. Perhaps with so many people in different timezones, we can work on some sort of channel we can collaborate on without having to 'meet up' at a particular time.

User (XYZ) had individual account tied to AD, so he logged in via corp/xyz and password. Audit wanted us to remove any local windows accounts that had admin privileges. So user XYZ was added to Solarwinds_Admin AD group. That AD group is configured (I'm a member if it, so I know that piece is working). I disabled his…

I'm also going to stir up this one thread with a question. We've been asked to remove any admins with local Windows account and replace them with a Windows Group accounts. The users are in the correct group, and I disabled the old account, but have not deleted it yet. The user cannot log in. I suspect this is expected…

As a network engineer, I don't have any input on useful SAM templates.

Moved 450 miles in December of 2019, so 2020 started with wrapping our heads about the new reality of where we lived. (We lived in the same house for 20 years, so yeah, a bit of a change) March 2020, we all know how that went. April. Furloughed from my job of 18 years. Looked like 90 days. July. Laid off from my position,…

That did it, thanks for the assist.

I'm in the same boat. Nightly rediscovering the same devices, over and over. Try to import them, nope, they are already in the db, not going to remove them from the list of discovered node to This doesn't seem to be a very productive way to have regular discoveries to find and import actual changes to the network. The work…
