When the new boss asks, "Can you do this?" or "Can you do that?" and you say "not with our XYZ product, but I know a way that it can be done and I can run up a 30-day eval to show you" It won't be long before you've got them sorted

Ah ! Thank you Wendy. I see them now. Thank you

Many, many years ago i had a call from a user with a punched card machine (a Sperry 1710, if anyone's interested). The machine was jamming cards all the time and so she couldn't work. I talked her through clearing the jam, reloading the card deck, testing for the correct entry gap and roller gaps before I got in the car to…

me, me, me I want a hoodie

It's only 8am in Austin now, so it shouldn't take much longer to get this sorted. Hang in there guys and just put the kettle on again

Good morning Marie, Welcome back I thought I knew the answer to today's Q4 without looking at the hint, but I checked with the hint to make sure that it was OK anyway. It got marked as wrong. Would you take a look please. Thanks. Robert

Q11 If you want the points, read the question.

Great article & all so true I try to always write and speak in Plain English; I try to avoid acronyms or buzzwords and I try to avoid all of the trite & mostly meaningless phrases, but sometimes it's really hard. I put a lot of the trite down to folk actually not knowing how to manage a situation, but desperate to look…

wow !!!

Q12 - you all got me worried & I started to over-think; it's a bad trait. Step away, drink more tea & answer the question, not the hype. It worked for me
-
Ah, Rats, I didn't look at the bigger picture either :(
-
Q8 - Ooooh, I wish
-
I agree. It's great idea. It could be like the labs library and give the answers to "I want to know about X" with questions and hints to give you a good grounding on that subject
-
Hi, The scoring says that I got Q1 wrong, but I disagree. Would you check that the right answer is "correct" please.
-
I've received my car too. Many thanks. I won't be putting soup in it though

Nice slide over. Thanks.

An option to remove the table from the view would presumably also improve the screen re-paint speed. Tidier & faster.

There is a "sort of" work-around. There's a new facility called Orion Insights on the customer portal under the support tab. Basically you create and upload a diag file and SW reply with a report. Part of that report is the settings and their defaults. Anything that's not default is highlighted.

Wow. If every migration was documented and explained to the users like this we'd have far fewer problems. Well done Team Thwack. Looking forward to the next-gen binary cut-over.

We call those answering questions from the UK at 00:01 the "pathfinders"

Don't worry about the little typo on Q7

I used IE instead of Chrome & got the same question 20 & still it didn't make sense. But at least I knew that I'd guessed it wrong this time.

congrats

looks like there's a problem today with Fridays Q. I can't submit and it prompts with a message that says that I have typed fewer that 10 char. I checked all of the boxes and I guess it's counting the Other answer. but I put a heap of info into there. And now I can't get back cos it thinks that I've already completed this…

Q!7. Really & truly a pain. And then when I finally found the answer I wondered why anyone would make such a tiny change. Would that really make any perceivable difference to performance?

Hi Guys, It's about time for a review of the Windows & SQL supported versions and of the current module version list. And just as important is a date stamp on the table so that it is obvious that the table is current. I've got a big upgrade to plan with multiple data centres on the move, SQLs to upgrade, IPs & server names…

Have we - perhaps - got a typo in Q5?
-
everyone says "don't just lift & shift", and all the cloud vendors' "free" tools do exactly that. Why can't they just be honest ?

and so it became THEN.
