Thanks for the detail sir. Yes, as line rates increase this will an issue for any software or appliance providing dedicated filtering / capture. The method you chose by deploying a dedicated aggregation device would be the suggested route to filter traffic down to that which is mission critical. Alternatively we could…

This is actually something we have included in the NPM 10.6 beta: Sign up here.

Can you perhaps post a screenshot of the trigger condition?

Individual hosts may be renamed under Settings->Manage Nodes

The SQL Server User Experience Monitor component monitor in SAM is probably exactly what you are looking for from an alerting perspective: http://www.solarwinds.com/NetPerfMon/SolarWinds/OrionAPMPHComponentTypesSqlQA.htm

Shawn, A re-run of the Config Wizard may help, but a support ticket would likely be the best path forward here: SolarWinds Customer Support - We're Here to Help

There is not a currently supported method of customizing the tray icon. To your point, there are a few ways to hack through the image replacement, but nothing presently supported.
-
Certainly not a known issue. Support ticket may be best path forward: http://www.solarwinds.com/support/ If you could kindly post the ticket number, I'd be interested to track.

Perhaps we may want to check the sample interval here?
-
It depends really on the current load on the poller and the number of nodes / elements presently polled. If your poller is presently around 50% load, you should be fine. 90%? You'll likely start to have completion issues.
-
Does the node still exist as a managed node? By default you will get an alert every 10 days on the node if it stays in a down state. May want to unmanage it if it is still there for historic reporting purposes.
-
Certainly seems like proxy is causing the issue. After editing the web.config did you restart services? Can you post the changes you made perhaps?
-
With the new reporting in SAM 6.0, you can create a web-based report with a status LED:

Surely- Under settings click on "Database Details"

There is a bug where if the agent is deployed first, followed by sensor, the sensor deployment will fail. NPM 11 HF6 addresses this issue and is available in the customer portal. Without the HF, you would simply deploy the sensor first (which automatically deploys agent.)
-
Afraid I don't quite understand the context? If you have a dedicated DNS server with locus to the NPM box, certainly the lookups will be faster.

This thread has a pretty exhaustive discussion of the topic: How Does Orion Calculate Bandwidth?
-
Are you using GET or GET NEXT when trying to poll? A screenshot of the dialog / error would be excellent.

There is no hard limit, simply a warning of possible performance issues when over 1000 nodes on a single map.

When discovering through discovery wizard, you can select (and save) credential sets. Is this what you were referring to?

There should be no configuration required for this resource. A support ticket may be advised so we can dig in: http://www.solarwinds.com/support/

Sounds like a use case perhaps better serviced by SolarWinds Patch Manager: http://www.solarwinds.com/patch-manager.aspx

First step would be to check the timeframe being reported on. Does preview in report writer function?

Douglas, That looks great, thanks for sharing with the community. We have made some recent changes to trap alerting (including copy / paste) that can be seen in our 10.6 beta. If you are under active maintenance, feel free to fill out this beta form and we'll get the installer over to you right away. Regards, Rob

The definition is pretty blurred owing to legacy versions that weren't standalone, that became standalone, and standalone products that began to integrate. Don't worry about the standalone / module designation and just match the product name and version in the matrix.

In terms of latency, as long as it is <250ms on the link, APE should function fine. How many elements are we planning at each remote site?
-
Is the traps menu missing altogether, or simply there are no messages visible? A screenshot would be super handy.

Potentially that device doesn't support the appropriate MIBs. Would it be possible to post a SNMP walk? http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/3145/SolarWinds+SNMP+Walk%3A+A+new+tool+for+collecting+SNMP+MIB+walks
