I'm surprised this functionality isn't already baked in for Netpath. Voted up.

While potentially difficult to maintain, etc., SLAs and usability definitions are a real positive in my mind for transition shops. These are companies/businesses that have leveraged either internal or external apps - maybe for awhile - but are just now crossing the threshold of realizing that without measurement and…

Thank you, sir - I'm feeling pretty lucky right now!

I've been trying to get this fixed for two years without success. Keep making noise!

This looks excellent. I'm assuming this can leverage data coming from DPA integration, so I'd likely use it as the be-all and end-all of full application/platform performance monitoring and measurement. Now I could see the following on one page for a public-facing app: 1. Utilization/health of the internet/WAN pipe from…

2-D space.....very hip.

Fresh from my CISSP certification, these terms and topic have occupied a lot of my brain time lately! I'm looking forward to future chapters of this series - thank you.

SMTP Traps.....lol!

BOOOOOOOM......*bump* "Just thunderbumps - no need for concern."

Well, I actually got all the questions right this week. Fourth time's the......charm?

Especially if your business is understanding when one of your sites served only by MPLS suffers a hard outage that no SLA agreement will fix - such as an errant backhoe as you mentioned.

Three-plus year bump. Is there any movement on this? It doesn't seem so, but wanted to hear from anyone on the SW side.

Prevention of bot-based point-spamming, I'd imagine.

Since there's no 'VIM Data Gatherer' diagnostic category in my Diagnostics tool, my thought is perhaps there's a separate executable that we may need to use.

Never.

How about expanding the list of NTA reports that can be run and/or generated? Recently, I got a request for a report showing a breakdown between traffic from a site destined for the Internet and traffic from that site to other corporate sites. Sounds easy, but it's not. NTA reports out of the box are lacking.

I get the same error and am not able to submit.

And then hope that all your third-party integrations, legacy apps, network scanners/printers, and vCenter appliances work normally after the fact.

Think of it as trust-but-verify..

Thank you, maria.bungau!

1. We don't have RCA meetings per se, but we have had major outages with high visibility that required an organized followup for RCA. 2. Since I'm involved with infrastructure, virtualization, and storage in addition to owning all of our Solarwinds modules, I tend to have all the info that I (or our applications team, or…

Absolutely - I really think it's down more to one's mindset than anything else. For example, there are those generalists as described above - they've been handed a bunch of different types of tasks, can do them all with competence, and enjoy the differentiation in their day-to-day work - while not having an interest in…

Are you sure about that? :-)

Super-cool! Props to DanielleH and the rest of the community staff for making this happen. I'm sure our international brothers 'n sisters are happy as well.

I've opened a case with HPE/Aruba to try and find out what's making this fail. It doesn't seem insignificant that the SysObjectID and the part number (J9850A for the chassis I'm trying to poll) both changed. The lack of urgency on all vendors' parts here is not surprising, but deflating nonetheless.

This is reading like a best-of from Tales From Tech Support - love it.

Agreed!

VPN, hotspot on phone for uplink if nothing else, RAP-3s for small offices or special-case travelers. The RAPs especially have become more than just a remote use case. For small sales offices (I'm talking 3 employees and lower), all we do is send them a pre-provisioned RAP. They connect it to provider's pipe, hooks up with…

You've hit on a good point there and one that might have gotten lost in the shade of these distinctions. Perhaps one could say that the differentiation between generalist and versatilist is one of tasking and task accomplishment to a more navigational/architectural/design job description or deliverable. In other words, a…

This is a first - to my recollection - of a direct corporate response to support woes on thwack. Good job.
