Please make this a priority! Many of us would rather deploy lightweight linux machines as netpath probe sources. Without this functionality it is hindering our ability to deploy and make use of this awesome new tool.

Looking forward to the next release!

Please, please, please.

It works ok, but on occasion some of the PA-500's will fail with the same error. It happens less often now, though.

Thank you, Chad. +1 upvote

To capture the running-config: show config running To capture the startup-config: show config saved running-config.xml Command prompt format is: admin@pa-500(active)> I am unsure what you mean by the more prompt. There isn't an enable or privileged mode from what I can tell. I'm just a normal superuser. I'll go ahead and…

We're running 4.2.2 VQNM. I forget where or what I was searching for, I may have just copied the text from the page that displays when you try to create a udp jitter operation from the Solarwinds web UI, then dropped that into google. There was another thread on thwack indicating others had the same problem, but they could…

Opening the Database Manager won't cause any issues, will it? I've not used that function before and typically left it to the System Admin. Are changes made immediately if I do copy/paste things over?

Thanks for the help! I got our linux box setup as an agent, configured as noted here. Once I tried to create a netpath operation, I had to also create a probe on the linux box. After this was done, I saw the new netpath operation greyed out, waiting for data. After about 10 minutes I refreshed my page, and found the…

Yup, we had to add them manually. I forget where I found that information, though it was likely another forum post somewhere here on Thwack. The format you'd need is: ip sla <operation number> udp-jitter <destination ip> <source port> source-ip <your router's ip> codec g711ulaw threshold <your threshold> We decided to use…

I realized that the probe I was basing my alert variables on was the polling engine name, which influenced the outcome of what the variables looked like as I was assigning them. Despite removing this I wasn't able to select a different source probe. Seems like a bug, but I went with the variable you offered up. I don't…

I found the article linked above to be pretty helpful in filtering out excessive snmp trap or syslog messages. Thanks for linking it!

Ok, I found the solution to increase the timeout. I needed to increase the telnet/ssh timeout under NCM Settings -> Network -> Protocol settings. They were using the defaults, which times out rather quickly. If you increase this timeout, it may help with devices that typically fail. I increased mine to: Which seemed to fix…

I have tried other templates, yes. Unfortunately changing the template did not seem to fix the issue. We see the following in our email report for the job: ERROR: Cannot download Running config : Connectivity issues, discarding configuration (or configuration is too short) I've separated out our running-config and…

This is very helpful. I hadn't been using the Stop processing rules option on any of my syslog/snmp trap alerts, so had been receiving duplicate emails. It would be pretty amazing if these tools were moved to the web UI.

Nevermind, appears that NPM was using a cached version of the list resources page from a month ago. After forcing a refresh it worked wonderfully.
-
Oddly enough the drop down menus already show No, so I'm confused as to why this isn't working correctly.
-
I created a new device template based on the old Aruba one. This one does not rely on any variables, and simply issues a "show running-config", "show version", and "exit". This solved my problem with the above.

I had to do something a bit interesting here. Since the ASR9K poller showed the incorrect data, I ended up doing the following: 1. Took the Total value from the above output (highest value out of all of our ISR 4431's) 2. Used SNMP OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.27 (committed memory) as the used memory value in a new…

In addendum, the output of an email firing shows: An EIGRP topology change has occurred. Node: node name Value: 5 Current value: 5 Raw Status: 5 Column Number: 0 Include Historic Stats: True Unit: Time: 4/4/2017 8:49:13 PM However, the test of the poller shows a value of 11 for the above node. Logging into the device shows…

So that worked, but for some reason the IP SLA Summary views I'm creating do not show up when I'm trying to add them to a menu bar. I have to add them manually by linking to the view ID. Kind of lame, but the VNQM module doesn't get a lot of attention so a little extra manual work isn't too outrageous. Thanks!

Unfortunately there is no way to add UDP port 0 as a monitored port in Solarwinds. This is due to port 0 being a reserved port. You can read more about this here: Unable to assign Port 0 TCP/UDP to NTA service and application ports - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support

As another data point, if I run the built in report "Physical Entities (Serial Number)" I notice that some of the nodes missing in my other report show up, but it's just the master switch. The master switch also does not have any data on the serial number. Another switch stack shows up, but only with four members instead…

Bump! I've seen some other threads indicating that SNMP polling for NHRP information may not be the best way to do this. Has anyone had any success?
-
So I think I found the issue. I attempted to login to the device this morning via SSH using the same credentials stored in NCM. The login process was slow. VERY slow. It took ~2 minutes after entering the password for the unprivileged prompt to come up. After that the ssh session seems a bit slow as well for commands to be…

Check your admin menu under Manage Agents. Does it show your agent is installed successfully?

I've had plenty of luck using ISR 4400's when it comes to ip sla operation creation. We have ICMP path jitter, traceroute, echo, DNS check, and TCP port check operations working with IOS-XE. I'm not sure about HTTP checks but it looks like they can do that as well. There was an issue I ran into where it would not create a…

Unfortunately neither of those are an option for us at the moment. Alert suppression doesn't look like it handles syslog viewer based alerts, and Kiwi is a great product but I don't think I can make the pitch to management to buy it yet. I need to explore all options with existing products before going that direction.
