We have no idea at this point - this is why I thought of posting here to see where it would be suggested to start looking. Table with lots of data - define "lots"? Largest table is InterfaceTraffic_Detail sitting at 1.8GB in size if that's a reference point? No groups so that's easy to answer. Is there a routine…

One last question - what's the proper OR statement if I want to do a series of them? Example: FullName Not Like '*map*' OR FullName Not Like '*123*' This is incorrect - trying to find out how to join multiple OR statements together Thanks again!

Thanks very much - that's what I needed!

Thanks Jiri for the information. What I am confused about is that this sounds like a design change made by Solarwinds, however there is nothing that I read in the release notes explaining that the operational design of the system was changing when upgrading to 7.3.x? Thank you.

Thank you very much for the detailed response Brandon. We rarely visit the Thwack site so primarily our feedback is from Technical Support when we engage tickets - I am learning that to get the "real lowdown" on what's going on and to voice our opinion as strongly as possible we should be visiting these forums much more…

No solution yet found to this issue. We can always ping the remote Juniper switch from a workstation but not from the solarwinds server itself when this occurs. Yes, when it happens it is very predictable - at least a few Juniper EX switches will not be pingable at first, then after many hours they will become pingable…

Various times.. happens roughly every 10 days ... but that varies too. Changed the size of the data packet and made no difference unfortunately. Try changing the size of the data packet that gets sent. You can do this under the NPM Polling Settings/ICMP Data. I've seen odd issues before where the default text is either not…

You mean the NIC driver on the Windows 2008 server right? It's a Broadcom GigE card (can't remember model but could look it up)... we updated all the drivers on it a few weeks ago and the same issue keeps occuring. Thanks for the reply! ;)

Thank you - I'm actually looking for something that could place a phone call using a POTS phone line directly. This is for a situation where the NPM loses all of it's network connectivity and needs to send an alert... Paul

Thanks Richard - I am starting to do some testing and your information is extremely handy! Paul

I found a fix - either I missed something or it's not clear... Via my VMWare console I logged in using admin/admin and was presented with a prompt. From there I had originally tried: /opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_config_net This is what I was pretty sure the console said. The problem is that you don't have any "root" access…

Thanks - alert integration ... which product would I check the logs and where would those logs be? Many thanks... Paul

Thank you I have two email accounts configured in WHD. I want each account to have it's own username/password for POP3 mail - no matter which email address I change, they both end up with the same username/password.... Paul

Interesting - so as long as you have a management interface (that happens to be a VLAN interface vs out of band) then it works ok? Just clarifying - many thanks!

Hi HolyGuacamole - love the name BTW! I'll play around with that and much appreciate the "out of the box" thinking Cheers, Paul

you cant graph custom reports... not with solarwinds products Really? We when went through the purchasing cycle with Solarwinds we were told it was no problem to create custom reports - so we used this particular example and were told it was no problem to do. I'm liking the product overall but this reporting/graphing issue…

Thank you - we ended up building a full report to get what we wanted. This was once we got some help on how to build it.

hehe.. I think that’s a great offer EX virtual chassis monitoring I prefer to do via syslog although I’ve seen such few problems with VC ….

EIGRP - most popular in the world? Umm... what century are you talking about? Serious, I spent a lot of years moving people out of EIGRP to OSPF (or ISIS) ... I haven't actually seen EIGRP in a production network in almost 10 years. +1 for ISIS support although so far anything I've tried to test with Solarwinds hasn't been…

Is there any other options to this? I can see ${AlertDefId} could be useful however it's static between alerts (for the same node) so for my purposes is not much different than using the NodeID itself. Example being ec2a0117-2fa6-426d-9b6b-cff23e19cefe What I was hoping is that for each alert there was a unique ID…

I read somewhere about the World Maps feature now being tied to geolocated address field in an upcoming release. Can we please have the ability to "link" this to either a new field or more importantly to an existing field. We already have addresses as custom properties - one entry for address, one for city, and one for…

I realized should have posted the error that I'm getting in email alerts: Temperature Sensor: MACRO SQL ERROR - Ambiguous column name 'Status'. C Battery Capacity: MACRO SQL ERROR - Ambiguous column name 'Status'. % Output Load: MACRO SQL ERROR - Ambiguous column name 'Status'. % Input Voltage: MACRO SQL ERROR - Ambiguous…

Sorry to bump my own post While the events log posted do not show this, I can see that in groups there are reports of this node (and others) as becoming unknown. So what appears to be happening is that many of our nodes that are down are flipping between "unknown" and "down". When flipping back to "down" this is triggering…

I'm revisiting this topic again. We have tested WHD and it's "ok" but nothing stellar. It really lacks in the ability to link company names to this folks that work for that company and treat it all as one entity - just an example). The built-in change process leaves a lot to be desired - again it's "ok". For the $50k or so…

Interesting questions. For our MX routers that have redundancy routing engines, we monitor them "in-band" as "one box". We rely on syslog to tell us if there is a switchover between RE's. Paul

I have one suggestion to float here.... (sorry, don't have time to jump on calls for the next several months - crazy schedule). But one major issue we have with IPAM is that you can assign the same subnet more than once - this shouldn't be possible for the way we use it. Now, for private RFC1918 space it would be nice to…
-
We upgraded a while ago - shortly after it was released..... the one issue that became evident right after the upgrade is the response time to loading graphs. The interface details screen for example loads quite quickly (same speed as before) however the actual graph (in our case past 24 hours of interface traffic) takes a…

Transmode and Metaswitch support would be incredibly useful - two of the most important pieces of gear in our network and no support in Solarwinds that we have been able to find. Would be happy to email someone the MIB information if they contacted me. Thank you.

I would very much like to hear how you make out with this.... I have opened several tickets with Solarwinds on a similar issue. They have told me that it's my Windows 2008 OS that's the issue but I'm having a hard time believing that it is. We have an issue where once every couple of weeks, two certain Juniper switches go…

I wanted to follow up on this again as we have made some progress. We spun up an entirely new set of VM"s in our lab and loaded in the list of "problem nodes". To date none of them have falsely tripped - but yet in our production environment they have tripped. This would seem like some kind of Solarwinds issue however we…
