Absolutely 1000% agreed. This folds in very nicely with the Syslog and Trap enhancement thread. Just saying I have voted this up already
-
Hmm... I haven't looked in forever, but I have not knowingly replaced my MIB DB in over 3 years. That does lend more credence to the idea of going back to the submit it to SW and they can manage it, but the question is, will they fold in all my old crusty mibs anymore? What about the ones for EOL HW that still lives? I…

I wholeheartedly apologize for jumping to conclusions when I found this thread link 404'd I did in fact, clear out cache/cookies, close out my browser, and it came back properly. I am glad to see you guys getting into the thread, and thanks for your email. I will send another reply as well. Many of us noticed the…

Jfrazier: It would be awesome to see some love for this FR/idea.. The network I used to operate in has ancient Sonus gear.. ancient Genband / aka Tekelec / AKA Sonterra gear, Acme Packet, or Nextone, or Freeswitch SBC platforms. With literally thousands of trunk groups, each with an SNMP table detailing stuff like…

I think this thing is in the "What we're working on for NPM" thread.. not sure.. Peter
-
I liked the idea enough to create one for the MIB DB thing. Please check it out at: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/1309 Peter
-
Not really to call you out, I mean it when I say that I am grateful you and some of the other newer PM's are on the team. Also, please believe me when I say that I believe you when you say there are other priorities that also need addressed. I'd rather not see that un-manage decoupling take precedence over looking at the…

Apparently, I accidentally created a duplicate feature request that can hopefully be closed. In that one, I stated what I will re-iterate here: Less "rah rah rah" and fluff, and more critical functionality addressed, please! I'm so sick of seeing all these cosmetic changelogs! Peter
-
Well guys, we do have 70 votes these days, so it *does* in fact appear that a bunch of folks are for it. I think this feature would be a really easy one for SW to package up as an optional component that doesn't even need to run on the server, it could run like Engineer's toolset on another random workstation *or* loaded…

Wish we could get more traction on this issue, but sometimes I think there's only 13 people who use try to use NPM for this stuff or even understand the problem. Less "rah rah rah" and fluff, and more critical functionality addressed, please! I'm so sick of seeing all these cosmetic changelogs! Peter
-
Bump! Any extra traction? Peter
-
Re-reading the original request, it was for unmanage only without full node management rights, so my previous comment can probably be ignored.
-
I guess I'm more in favor of this than I was before, in general, I don't totally think it's critical, but after consideration, I'm more in agreement with the "Trash" method. I'd like an option to purge immediately or another spot where I can hit a button and "purge deleted", sometimes I want to get the data OUT of the DB…
-
And of course, the comments will be moderated. Let's make sure we paint the prettiest possible picture. How's that old saying go? You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. Peter

Has anyone tested whether or not full Node Management rights via the Yes/No in the user config respects user view limitations, allowing a method, two-step though it may be to provide limited node management rights. I tested it with a test user limited against a custom property and sure enough, with Node Management enabled,…

Huge. Please don't stop and expand this feature to traps and syslogs right after! Peter
-
Michael, This and a couple of other critical feature requests that have 100 more votes than this one are getting ignored for what, Network Atlas Enhancements, Further enhancements to charting or reporting, simply aren't as critical as these deal breakers to various high-volume or large scale use cases, like this,…
-
Also, I'd recommend that this be an option, either use the stock one or roll your own, but using the stock one and being able to layer in custom ones would be great, just much harder to implement. Initially the either/or approach would be good. Peter
-
As I was looking through the open feature request ideas, I was all bent out of shape for a second because I didn't see it in the list of ideas open for voting. However, we are finally in a "What we're working on" state, which is absolutely amazing. Big shout out to Mike Driskell for articulating this request so eloquently…

This thread was created 10 and 4 days ago. Other parts of this particularly broad feature request are out on thwack going back even further. The bad SNMP table handling and other issues have been voiced to tech support, sales, and PM's directly I know for a fact for over 4 years. You guys have been dodging this forever.…
-
Between this and the UnDP's lack of functional 2D table handling, these are two that have been painful for quite a while. +1 on this, and please.. all you folks who don't understand this because you don't pay attention to syslog and traps, please vote for it.. Peter
-
Okay, I need to dig more into the current state of the API. I haven't taken a proper look at since it didn't have teeth in the first couple of versions. identifyably bad netflow streams is sticky because it's pretty vague right now, even in my mind, but I was thinking stuff like massive amounts of port 25 traffic to…

What we're working on tag at SW means that 1/100th of the features that need serious attention, will ever get it. Instead, as others have pointed out, 0 commitment is made, and 0 work is done to core features that have needed attention since 2007/8. Such as Core Trap Receiver, Core Syslog (so incredibly broken it's funny,…

I for one, am much less interested in hard-set levels for access, but rather, I want to create a group, and everyone in that group has access to A, D, X, Z functions, which are all expressly specified. In order to keep from confusing 'Groups' with what I'm talking about, I will henceforth refer to them as "User Classes".…

I would agree, if you only have 5-10 custom properties. If you have more than that, it's easiest to work off of a CSV or some sort of data source with the proper information, even if you had to do a "Custom Property Import" like from the last NCM. I have 100 custom properties. If I had to hand type every one, I would be…

Looks like several idea links are broken at the moment. Replying through the communications UI appears to work still.
-
Sorry for the lag! I missed that last comment. Precisely. Labels are stored in one table, values are stored in another or multiple others. This is a common construct for custom SNMP implementations for things like Cisco ASA's and many pieces of voice gear. Of note, I have issues with Acme Packet SBC's because almost…

That's starting too small, IMHO. Peter
-
One point to note.. Trap service shuts down again. Not sure when/how or precisely what restored it, but it appears to be stopping and restarting at this point consistently! Yay! Peter

This is a great catch on an issue I never got a chance to post anything on Peter
