so if we need to make use of traps or syslog function, now we need to enable the Log Analyzer, correct? And will be the DB(for Log Analyzer) be created automatically as part of initial setup?
-
i second this... its very helpful when there are multiple teams with access to unmanage or mute... recently i had an instance where a number of nodes were left in maintenance but no clue why it was done! although audit logs cant tell who did it but its even better when we know why was it done, like due to some outage or an…

Anyone found the solution for this??
-
it should match when trying to check on device also right.. thats the main reason i was trying to find out the formula info...let me check

@"aLTeReGo" below example of one Linux server monitored via agent... Now in this how does it relate? Memory used in gauge states 7% whereas Physical Memory shows 21%... am i missing somethning? List resouces info incase m doing something wrong:
-
but for alerting how does it work? there is percent memory used option.. so what does this take into account? like i said overall memory is different and physical memory is different...
-
and another question... if i check Memory in console for 1 server in gauge, it shows different % and different for physical memory... m referring this for agent based only... when m alerting using percent memory variable which one will it refer?

@"aLTeReGo" Thanks but the 'Free' part will vary based on the OS right.. like it may consider buffer/cache under free as well.. so do u have any inputs on that? Ex below for 1 Linux server. if i just do Total - free then it doesnt match at all..
-
@"aLTeReGo"- can u throw some light on this...
-
can anyone respond please?
-
anyone?
-
@"aLTeReGo" Yes i tried with IP also... The case was closed but i got it reopened today morning india Time

Agree that most of the tools dont have this feature... But its a much needed one...Solarwinds is providing lot of different features and ppl are liking it for many reasons... If this gets added up in next major release it would really make many folks happy here...
-
Perfect! This is what I was trying to arrive at... Thanks a lot for all the inputs...you clarify it with complete details.... On Fri, Jun 29, 2018, 11:38 PM aLTeReGo

the flow u mentioned is perfect... infact i have managed to build a custom poller already but the prob is when it comes to alerting.. its very complex and limited options when it comes to UnDP... I am still breaking my head to see if i can get it turned around and help me... If you are good at SQL, then you can explore a…

Thanks for the update Serena. I will try to provide the details in a template. I still wanted to know to if we do add a Xen host then will it identify basic details like cpu, mem etc just like what we see for esx host?I am talking Abt using SNMP protocol. The rest I know it will show only when it's under complete support.
-
if u want to capture hardware monitoring, u will need SAM for it. Only NPM will not help. Also, ILO4 and above only has SNMP poll option so for others u will have trap option only...in this case NPM alone would work but u will need to build custom pollers or write SQL query to convert trap into alert.

great to hear that... :-)

@"jvb" Need another help if possible. i want to pass the sweventID variable but not sure how it can be brought in.. this is what comes in ServiceNow.. so want to understand if there is any way to fetch this pass like how you gave for datastore...
-
@"aLTeReGo" Yes.. its this one: 00544107
-
not really... i opened a case with support but did not receive much help from them and they are stating that for UnDP they have limited options...
-
integer value is fine as if u search the OID in google, u get this: I guess you need to check if enclosure level its able to fetch or not...
-
thats strange! it should work.. Then i guess u need to work with support to identify the root cause as you have already confirmed that all pre requisites are available...
-
Thanks for confirming @alterego. Maybe I will wait for Serena if she has any updates regarding this. On Wed, Apr 25, 2018, 11:47 PM aLTeReGo
