If they cannot allow direct access then option of having real time is doubtful according to me.... If they can send traps then u can capture them and convert those into alerts... In most of the cases, Service Provider connected devices are only monitored for availability as there will be limited access....

Hi Claudio Were you able to get the ABB device monitored in solarwinds?
-
Can anyone confirm?
-
i have started seeing this for 4 servers and as per support it was found out that the OID which Orion polls is getting negative value from device end. We are also getting this error when running snmpwalk: Working with our technical team to see if they can help and if there is any issue in the configuration at device level.
-
the links you are referring to is actually an integration method which is a 'pull' from ServiceNow. We are using this currently for many customers since the idea followed here is that event mgmt has to be done on SNOW so all monitoring tools send data to SNOW and then required rules and everything is written at SNOW end…
-
if its possible to configure SNMP on the Linux appliance, then that should help you out and then poll the services using application monitor...

Well I guess there are lot of factors that come into picture when we talk about best practice. Depends on what resources you have, like any CMDB is there or not, how is that managed, is it updated on time, etc.. From an Solarwinds admin perspective, I believe you should get the requests into your queue if the there is any…
-
We also have a new customer coming up with these config... will keep an eye on this thread..
-
wow.. already another version in Beta... would love to hear the feedack on the new features...

I think a simple condition for node/interface down should also meet your requirement. You can set it as- When Node is down but only if node/interface name is "the one's which u need". You can also set the time it should wait for.
-
swebster-towson check with your team who manages DNS entries for devices. If its not updated on the DNS server which Orion contacts, then it will show wrong entries on console as well. We had encountered same but in our case nslookup was showing up a name which was wrongly updated at DNS level.

do u see not responding events under 'events tab' for this device having issue? Were there any communication issue observed for this device, u can catch this also via an alert...
-
you can set up an with condition of ' alert when the specified node is up'. Usually we write alerts for node down and the reset alert for it.. in ur case u have to define for the devices where u want to trigger an alert when the status is Up. There is also an option of selecting alert when status changed....
-
to be specific it would be "Event Log" option in Trigger actions
-
There is an option while setting trigger action to write into the Netperfmon DB. You can use that.

One update that i have got it, they will be establishing a NAT for both servers separately and that IP i will have to monitor. So as long as they are enabling all the pre requisites for monitoring it then it shouldnt be a prob, right?
-
Thanks all for the responses... I am awaiting on the exact information as there are lot of confusions in terms of- if its active-active then how is DNS routing and reachability established or if there is VIP or local IPs in place etc... I will revert back soon... Thanks again for all the inputs...

howz the setup of your solarwinds main poller and additonal to the DB? Is it across WAN? do also verify if the SQL port is having any issues from firewall perspective... if its happening frequently then u can observe the pattern in terms of when its occuring and getting restored.. Worth to check if there is any issue with…
-
You can check the matrix and release notes in Products page..it will give you complete details...
-
anyone who has done it? is it supported under SRM?
-
anyone?
-
has anyone come across such scenario? I forgot to mention one point that- Our Unix team is saying that they want only the 'free' memory part to be polled and alert should only come for this. But solarwinds included the buffer and cache components as well for memory calculations, if I am not wrong... So this is where we are…
-
you are referring to Linux VMs here right?
-
even i checked for few of the reports but see the same. i guess by default it comes along in the report. Not sure if it can be removed.
-
even m looking for the exact OIDs for AIX 6.1, 7.1 and VIOS...does anyone have it? I want to use in UNDP for hardware monitoring.
-
anyone else having different views or details that could help me?
-
i have been also looking for answer for this from long time but there's no solution found...
-
Hi, But is the recommendation not there earlier from Solarwinds that the DB should always be in separate server? I had read some where that All the modules should be in 1 insatnce and the DB should be on a different SQL server.
-
i believe it should.. u can create a view and convert the same into NOC...
-
NTA will take lot of resources so it would be good to re-check on your existing specs and get it increased if possible. Also observe the pattern when is it exactly remaining high. During DB maintenance is one instance.
