Another issue with multiple ips is that a device that can send traps or syslogs via multiple IP / interface will not have that trap or syslog treated correctly in NPM if the message is not coming from the monitored ip. 

You can place $variables in your alert text or e-mail that identify which node fired the alert.

It would help to avoid mistake when you have multiple small subnets...

Yeah... That's an issue I have with my current workaround. Because there's a few places where serial numbers are in the SWI data space, I have an alert that fills a node CP if empty, based on UnDP or asset inventory, or NCM. Since the CP is assigned to the node and not the members, it does fill only the Master device…
