Hi, liufisky. LEM Reports looks for a file called managers.txt, which is typically created by the LEM console after you add a manager to it. If you want to run reports on a computer that doesn't have the LEM console, follow the steps in the following KB article to create the requisite file. SolarWinds Knowledge Base ::…

Hello again. Most agent connectors are also available on the LEM appliance. So, theoretically, you can configure those connectors to read anything being sent to LEM from another source. I checked with Support specifically about the Linux connectors, and they said it should work. If the situation comes up, we'd recommend…

Hi, paulage. The LEM Agent runs as a service, so you should be able to remove the user's access to Administrative Tools > Services using Group Policy, and that would make it so they couldn't stop it. It doesn't show up in the system tray, so that's not a concern. Otherwise, that leaves Add/Remove Programs and Task Manager.…

Here's a KB article for that error message: SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Troubleshooting HTTP status 401 errors in Patch Manager. I hope that helps. Phil

Hi, Ash. Changing that service account is a bit involved. Did you do everything in the following article? Changing the account or password used for the EminentWare Data Grid Server service Hopefully that helps. Thanks.

Hi, Mark. I'd like to clarify two things before engaging the rest of the team: * Is the computer running Windows 7? * Do you have any LEM Reports tasks scheduled, or is this your first time using the reporting application? Thanks.

Hi, there. The Windows alerts in LEM reflect the Event ID in the ProviderSID field. Use this, along with the DetectionIP field for the computers you want to monitor, to get what you're looking for. You can use a group (such as a User-Defined Group or Tool Profile) to monitor several computers, and the process will be…

Hi, Martin. What's the exact name of the connector you're trying to configure? You can find this in the Manage > Nodes > gear icon > Tools view. Thanks.

Hello again, Aaron. 1. What are the steps or procedures on how to use' the event correlation' ,like, I need to know the relationships of any number of events with some identifiable patterns - relationships between events. Event correlation is at the heart of what the LEM product does; it's used in filters, rules, searches,…

Here's a KB article that will help: SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: How to create a Patch Manager report that shows only third-party updates If necessary, you can add/remove/modify fields and filters to provide the exact information you want. Let me know if you have any other questions. Phil

Hello again, Chris. I did some checking, and it sounds like this is a feature request. We had another eval customer ask for something similar recently, so I'll send the request up. Let me know if there's anything specific you want me to include. Thanks. Phil

Hey, Rob. All of the newest videos are linked in the 5.4 console on the Ops Center tab, and there are links to them in the new-and-improved User Guide as well. Check out the first couple of chapters of the guide, too, and you'll find you're up and running in no time. Here's a link to the guide:…

Hi, there. Per the release notes, we currently support TriGeo versions as far back as 5.0. We also provide an upgrade path as far back as 4.5.3. Here's a link to that section of the notes: SolarWinds Log & Event Manager Release Notes With the latest release, we've also added functionality that supports user-driven…

Hi, there. We were able to duplicate this on our end, so for now I'd say this is expected behavior. One suggestion would be to use PackageBoot to uninstall 6u3 prior to installing 6u31. I'll keep you posted if I learn anything else interesting. Thanks.

Hi, David. The first thing I'd like to mention is that, in most cases, Windows will choose the Personal certificates store unless you specify a different store in the Certificate Import Wizard. Given that's the case, will you please double check that you selected Place all certificates in the following store, and then…

Hi, Stephen. Your best bet is to run an nDepth query for the user in the Console, and then export the results in either PDF or CSV format. See the following KB for more information: Export nDepth results in custom or text formats for retention and ad hoc reporting LEM/TriGeo Reports is set up to present reports by event…

What program are you trying to install? This is a Microsoft error code, and I have found several different procedures to address it depending on what you're installing.

Hi, Steve. It sounds like you'll want a rule that relies on some combination of Tool Profiles and User Defined Groups (UDG). The Tool Profiles allow you to group similar agents together for filters and rules. For example, you might have a Windows Server 2008 DC profile. If the agents you want to monitor with this rule are…

Hi, Byron. What version of the LEM Console are you running? If you are using the 5.3 evaluation Console, see: Stopping the Data Simulator in a LEM Evaluation Console. If you are using the 5.3.1 (latest) evaluation Console, you should have a Stop button on the Data Simulator widget: * Click the Ops Center tab. * Click Stop…

Hello. Welcome to thwack! The first issue you listed is consistent with behavior that we fixed in version 5.3. See KB3323 for more information. As far as the second issue goes, I'll pass that along to the LEM Product Manager. Thanks!

Hello again. It took a little bit of digging, but I've worked out a procedure I'd like you to try. If any of these steps are out of order or missing, please let me know as I'm working on some documentation for this process as we speak. To configure Iron Port WSA to log to your LEM appliance: * Connect to your Iron Port…

Are you seeing anything at all from that device? If you are, I'd recommend you start with a filter or nDepth search for the Tool Alias associated with the device. That will show you everything from the device, and then you'll be able to truly see what LEM is and isn't collecting/normalizing. If you do this and you find the…

That's coming really soon. Check out this blog post from the LEM product manager: In particular, see the "Upcoming Releases" section about half-way down. If you're interested in testing out any of the new features as they come available, there's a survey link in that section that will get you on the list.

Hi, liufisky. Those are the correct connectors for monitoring Exchange, but there are also some additional steps to perform on the Exhange server itself to make everything work correctly: Enable auditing in Exchange 2007 using Microsoft's Exchange Management console. For additional information, see Managing Exchange Server…
