In regards to the 1st paragraph: Did you try the right-click integration allowing to call also desktop tools from certain places in NPM? If you would install the desktop toolset on your server and have the users RDP to it, they will be able to run also desktop tools from Orion console... one at the time of course, unless…

According to the case, activating the Toolset on the Web license and restarting the services fixed the issue.. therefore, marking this as a correct answer. Peter

Just in addition to wiszm23 post: Configuring SNMP/credentials in the UDT will allow you to poll Layer 2 and Layer 3 information from the ART tables of the discovered devices ( switches/routers..).

Hi, there is a new Vendor alert included in UDT 3.1 which will alert you anytime a new vendor appears on the network... for more details, please see: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-175158 Does this help please? Peter

Hi, no restrictions, nor time limitations - it only comes as is Peter

Pls go to : http://thwack.solarwinds.com/community/network-management_tht/user-device-tracker/user-device-tracker-feature-requests and create new idea ( and mark it "open for voting" in the last step... Peter

Go to Manage Groups (Settings), select one group and click Add objects to that group. In the left table of Available Objects choose Ports to be showed only via dropdown and now you can add them (one by one or by selecting all) to the group. Peter

I asked the team to validate this. Please stay tuned. Peter

So you did see the device connected in UDT and yet, didn't recieve any alert? The way the whitelist works is that each of the variables - MAC/IP/Hostname needs to be added manualy otherwise you get an alert. Couldn't it be that while the IP was on the ignore list, the respective MAC/Hostname wasn't?

Hi, sFlow is not supported in Engineer's toolset. Peter

There shouldn't be any limitation on the node count. As it worked before and then stopped, it seems like something worth checking from the log/diag. perspective...Therefore, could you please contact our support? Thanks Peter
-
Which version you are running please? There are different types of jobs ( L2 and L3 jobs, DNS, REL- active directory..). The best would be to open a support case so it can be investigated whether those didn't finish in time because of particular devices responding too slowly, or if it's something with the Orion.. Peter

Hi Mani, without event 4768, UDT can't correlate user name with IP address. Also 4769 even is generated only in case of secure AD configuration: UDT: User Logins, Event 4768 YES, Event 4769 NO . Peter

Ismo, please contact our support for this issue. Regards Peter

If you like this Port Description idea please vote for it on: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2985. Thanks

Right now we don't tie users to MACs at all. It would surely be beneficial for UDT to consider only a set of MAC - IP - DNS in a given time as a set defining an unique endpoint. Such change would however require huge investment of time to completely rebuild the architecture...

Hi Jonathan, like mentioned by Sean, Switch Port Mapper is the tool to get port details from switches. Is there some information missing please? Thanks Peter
-
Interesting perspective, thanks Daniel! I will raise a feature request for this internally and will track other customers asking for this change so the priority can be set... Wouldn't be possible to use a custom SQL report to exclude these virtual ports as a workaround? (not sure how you actually do the inventory counts,…

No need to deinstall 10.9 - upgrade should work. Peter

Hi Richard, thanks for the reply. We are aware of these difficulties ( some were also mentioned in Ideas raised by you - thanks for that!) .. Would it be possible to have a call with you? Sending PM with details... Peter

Hi Who broke it , If advised steps haven't helped then I'm afraid you will need our support reps. to take a look at it. If active on maintenance, could you please raise a ticket with them? Thanks

Which version do you please use? In UDT 3.1 there are new macro variables - PortID and NodeID you can use to make the alert be more specific...
-
Sounds good, sending you meeting proposal in the email... Peter

Yes, HF2 is the one you need to use. Peter

Thanks for the screen shot! I haven't encountered this issue before, therefore I wonder if steps from your link helped or if the issue still persist?
-
Richard, can you please send me the latest case number? Also, is it possible to have a quick meeting on the support topic? Let me please know the preferred date/time and I will prioritize it... Thanks Peter

Hi Kurt, that's bit surprising as I can see many more OIDs not supported for 5K Nexus devices in version 6... Therefore, a call with Dev would be probably the best to double check the OIDs supported and to see if there is something we can do. Switching to email conversation to agree on the date/time... Peter

NCM would be the right choice if looking for automation/more complex config tasks... Peter
