I need the same. Unfortunately, with SAM and NPM being such relentless spam machines, even criticals are not critical and warnings not really warnings, and Unknown status just kill any kind of hope for clean reporting on alerts.

This is something that is very difficult to automate and effectively do with SolarWinds, whereas with SCOM every single object availability is easily available and I can create a report on any combination of these objects dynamically every month Below is one I do for Oracle and related Apache services for a group of…

Manage Engine AD Audit is a very easy way to go on this. We use it for NetApp, PureStorage, Windows Shares, EMC, SharePoint. I don't have experience with SolarWinds LEM, perhaps its better.

Good examples here... http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9697252/compare-patch-levels-across-multiple-servers https://philergia.com/2011/07/28/comparing-multiple-files-using-powershell/

Lots of work to setup CloudWatch alarms - nothing is really straightforward as you have to cook alot of your own monitoring - Getting Set Up - Amazon CloudWatch Would you be using SolarWinds within AWS or monitoring from another data center? I ask be cause we use SolarWinds to monitor from our DC to AWS using the…

We are looking to do the same with SCCM/SCSM or home grown CMDB. Interested to hear if others do it.

I really miss having the horizontal UI. Having to click around inside the collapsing death temple is nauseating. And, my non technical unsophisticated users cannot see their custom links easily. I have to retrain them and they have made the same points. They like the old bar with everything "there" in front of them. Easy.…

You could create event log component monitors for the iSCSI event IDs found in the logs.

You are not alone amigo. This is a pain point of SolarWinds that has still not been resolved with a granular, intelligent process. With other tools it is very easy to do this with object overrides. Configuring a single Low Disk Space Alert for many individual servers

I'm a newb but I have done something similar. Make a copy of an existing view in Manage Views, then populate it with what you want. Set up a rotating HTML page that cycles through the different server view pages.
-
I see this is not really possible, we can't add those external name servers to SolarWinds as Nodes.

Experiencing this with 12.1.

I use the "Alert me when a managed node has not been polled during the last 5 tries" alert which will do somewhat of what you are asking for if you target Windows...

"These AppInsight Templates are kind of a pain because they are not configurable. Who though a non-configurable template was a good idea?" Indeed, the most important question I have asked here as well. I'm glad you see my insurmountable struggle with these observations. So much to love, so much to hate.

If you create a custom login, pointing the user towards a custom View and Toolbar, then the Home link will always point back to the page you designate as your summary page. We give our clients a custom View and when they click Home at any point it simply goes to the Summary page we define. 1. Create custom user restricting…

A server is a server, doesn't matter what field. You rmain concern is HIPPA compliance reporting. You need to provide audits of how Domain Admins are managed, AD failure logging. Forensics. SolarWinds SAM won't provide this, you would need a centralized repository - I suggest ME AD Audit. I have no experience with…

This is the problem with not having CPU queue length built in. Yes, you can hack it out with Leo's blog, but it sure would be nice to have an intelligent native CPU alert.

You will need much more than 135 open. SAM port requirements

The Orion template isn't sufficient?

Windows is Windows. IP is IP. Etc. Etc. Not sure why there would be any doubt of it working in Azure.

We have battled this too for a few years.

Ahhh, behold the inflexible beauty of that which is AppInsight.

I think all of those can live on the same box depending on the size of the deployment. I would put your NTA DB on a separate box. How many Nodes? How many LEM objects? How man SAM apps? How many Netflow interfaces are you collecting? Also, and sort of unrelated, but if anyone ever has questions on Installation order, a…

Have the script write an event to the event log based on Pass/Failure criteria then have SAM pick up that event as a event log component monitor. In order to do it the way you describe would take a custom Service most likely written in C# or something to monitor the flow of data.

Go to Admin, Views Make a copy of the Top 10 View Take this copy and add your small group of servers to it via filtering. Add other widgets as desired or modify to include more objects.
-
Create a totally separate view just for that resource in "Manage Views" in the all settings page. Sounds like you are creating it on a general Node page which is why you are seeing it there.
-
Also, in the UI there is a link to Manage Nodes to select multiple nodes, but this leads nowhere - I get to the manage nodes screen but how do I return to the Assign monitors page? Can't find the node you want to monitor? Add the node from the Manage Nodes page.
