  • I think once they get the hang of the new web interface, and some of it's hidden features I think they will come around. For me I think training admins on the newer interface is a little easier. amstephen87‌ with Loop1 recently showed me how it all works out, and I'm not looking back.
  • I don't think so, but I'll check my configurations. I may have done with with Kiwi in the past. I was planning do download via a central FTP server with some jobs and then kick back the scripted changes. It's amazing how sparse support is for environmental devices.
  • Yes many pollers but for the same device and it seems like it is only in table format. I'm also looking for creative ways to get my alerts to be a little more specific. Using my UPS example maybe say Phase1 is over loaded and has exceeded capacity of 30 amps. I can probably say the UPS has a phase that has a load of XX…
  • Here is an example: I can take the values and put them in a table and index them, or I can put them in a graph. I cannot pick out just one of the values and assign them to a Gauge. At least not that I know of. One UPS had OIDs within and outside the table. The rest are in table format.
  • I seem to only be able to get wmf to work. I have tried gif and png. I usually end up converting it.
  • Good points, the thought that came to mind after restructuring my organization of IPAM, is why not implement the similar sorting views for network nodes like we have in NPM, but of course tailored to common subnet properties in IPAM. For example, create an IPAM view that list IP addresses, and edit the view so that it…
  • I know SNMP and WMI look at the stats slightly different. WMI take more resources to poll, but includes more datapoints, SNMP takes less resources both on the polling server and client side. So if you are looking for quick response times, and clear data I go for SNMP. If you need some details not offered by SNMP for some…
  • I had been engaged in updating our Solarwinds environment. I was revisiting Engineer Tool-set and noticed that there was a web module. I had to see this. Previously it took time to get tools to the right people during an emergency or troubleshooting a major issue on the network. Now it is just a matter of find the trouble…
  • This is actually a pretty good idea, and would simplify setup on multiple levels.
  • I'm having the same issue on my Exchange Servers.
  • Did you post as a feature as well?
  • I agree, I think with some of the other enhancements, being able to view NTA and other information about the performance of the virtual networks in VMware would be beneficial. NTA needs to be less worried about each individual virtual port and more linked to the node connected to the port.
  • You can still use the original Alert Manager at this time. I would however recommend using the new web based alerts, and convert any alerts manually that did not convert with your upgrade. I have found the new setup and organization a little easier in the new web version. For example on the triggers you can organize your…
  • Weak signal can be relative to the type of wireless device being monitored, as well as the type on interference causing the weak signal, and the number of concentrated active wireless devices near an access point. With all that in mind I'm sure a value could be used to identify and monitor a weak signal, much like in a…
  • I found that turning on Neighbor scanning helps with discovering devices (including Mac Addresses) not available for Ping. Basically looks it up in the ARP table on the gateway router for that device. If it does not communicate much over the gateway and does not answer to Ping requests it is possible devices might not show…
  • Another option would be to download and upload the config via FTP, while not the most secure way there are not a lot of options with APC devices and they still have SSL issues with the web interface that they don't plan to patch at all. I'm not a big fan of the SSH menu command lines, but I could see it working. We have…
  • I am trying OGS, installed it last weekend, and it is still indexing my SNMP Traps and a few other resources. Does it take up some CPU Cycles "It sure does, and has maxed out my main polling server. I'm starting to think OSG would belong possible on it's own Orion Indexing server in larger environments. When looking at the…
  • The new STIX and TAXII open standard along with Soltra Edge a (Collect/Create Threat Repositories) also provide a means to share threat intelligence across member organizations anonymously. This would not limit Solarwinds to one threat source. Solrta Edge is free to deploy, there are plenty of paid and free open sources to…
  • Added a link to you LEM question as well as more information to help adoption of the new Threat Intelligence standards implemented late last year. I think this could be an opportunity to increase the value of LEM as a SIEM for a number of industries that now rely on Threat Intel, and possibly build on a Threat Response…
  • There are alerts for Interface utilization but I would recommend identifying bottle neck areas, and using a custom property such as Interface_Type. A common place to look for bottle neck are Trunk, and WAN interfaces. 1. Create Custom Property Called Interface_type 2. Identify all interfaces on your network that connect…
